The Le Marche region has a lot to offer to wine lovers. There are 5 DOCG wines and 16 DOC wines. From the prestigious and famous Verdicchio, to the Vernaccia di Serrapetrona, from the Offida Pecorino to the Offida Passerina. Also: Bianchello del Metauro, Colli Maceratesi, Colli Pesaresi, Esino, Falerio dei Colli Ascolani, I Terreni di Sanseverino, Lacrima di Morro d'Alba, Rosso Conero, Pergola, Rosso Piceno, San Ginesio Many of these wines are little known outside of Italy but visitors to the region have a pleasant surprise when they try the local wine produced by many small aziendas and cantinas.

Le Marche Wine as Gift ideas to lift the spirits of the red wine lover on your Christmas list

Le Marche Wine as Gift ideas to lift the spirits of the red wine lover on your Christmas list | Wines and People | Scoop.it

I made another Montepulciano discovery recently — the Ciu Ciu Oppidium. Hailing from the Marche region on Italy’s Adriatic coast, Oppidium is bio-dynamically farmed and 100 percent Montepulciano.
Picked late in the year, the wine has a slight “ripasso” character to it, which I love. The later harvest of slightly overripe grapes also soften the tannins, which I also appreciate. More delicate and elegant than the Masciarelli Montepulciano, the Oppidium is softer, sweeter, and ready to drink right now.

Wines of the Week: Monte Schiavo Pallio di San Floriano Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOCG Classico Superiore 2015 | Wines and People | Scoop.it

A new fave wine! And it's a perfect winter white for this time of year as the weather cools down. Verdicchio might not be a grape that leaps to mind when you're choosing a wine with dinner. But Pallio di San Floriano's aromas of peach, almond and honeysuckle on the nose has a softness, and full  - almost oily - mouthfeel that finishes with a hint of liquorice and tarragon. It would be the perfect partner for a steaming bowl of pasta with a rich and creamy sauce, like alfredo or carbonara. And it’s a killer value at under $20 in the shelf!

Le Marche and the First-time Tre Bicchieri winners

  • Offida Pecorino Guido Cocci Grifoni 2013 Tenuta Cocci Grifoni - very fresh on the nose, with notes resembling greens and anise: complex palate gracefully enlivened with saline counterpoints

Le Marche Wine among Five White wines for the transition to Fall

Le Marche Wine among Five White wines for the transition to Fall | Wines and People | Scoop.it

2014 Barone Pizzini Pievalta Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore

Otherwise known as the flagship varietal of Le Marche, Verdicchio classic almond-like flavors are both clean and fresh, retaining slight notes of citrus that match the lingering heat of summer, yet evoke a round, warming  mouthfeel for those chillier nights ahead. Pievalta’s vines grow in clay and limestone soil and are biodynamically farmed. Malolactic fermentation rounds the mouthfeel of their Verdicchio based wine, with stainless steel ageing preserving the natural freshness and acidity of the grapes. ($18)

Mauro Peroni tells us about one of the most important wines of the Italy's Le Marche Region. I think the article is too short, with 133 words and 786 characters, the search engines will give little relevance. I think the importance of the grape must be historically contextualized and, in the optic of a modern conception of web usability, should be completed with useful references as the most prestigious bottles, cellars to consider the typical dishes to accompany a tasting. I invite you, Mauro, to consider my digital curation http://www.scoop.it/search?q=rosso+conero to get all the articles written on the subject and get (perhaps quoting) excellent sources of information. The Italian White Wine You Have Never Heard About But You Really Should Drink

It is the rising star of Italian wine, a greeny-gold white starting to earn an international reputation for its distinctive minerally edge and ageing potential. The pecorino grape, which shares its name with one of Italy's best-known cheeses, might not even exist but for the vision of a trailblazing pioneer fondly remembered by his daughters as being "a little bit crazy".

Mariano Pallottini's insight:

The Italian wine star that came back from oblivion - Angus MacKinnon AFP - Guido Cocci Griffoni is revered as a hero of Italian viticulture and his native region of Marche for having hauled the ancient grape back from the brink of extinction.

Ciprea 2015
Offida Pecorino Doc, Poderi Capecci San Savino

Ciprea 2015<br/>Offida Pecorino Doc, Poderi Capecci San Savino | Wines and People | Scoop.it

Simone Capecci is one of the young winemakers who are playing a key role in the rebirth of Piceno wines. His vineyards are in the areas of Acquaviva Picena and Offida, among the best for winegrowing in the region. While the area is best known for its reds, there is also a long tradition of producing white wines beginning with Pecorino. Being a convinced champion and protector of local varieties, Simone could not overlook this grape and he has become a point for reference for this wine.

Mariano Pallottini's insight:

Made from Pecorino and aged in stainless steel. The wine has a bright, straw-yellow color and while still very young, it already has a complex aroma with notes of peat, iodine and white pepper. The mouthfeel is salty and fresh with a bold yet agile and dynamic structure. The finish is long, sharp and has great personality.

His wine journeys take him all over the world in search of wine “with soul.” The 2015 Ciù Ciù Pecorino Offida is one of his great wine discoveries. This wine is 100% Pecorino, a grape grown in the Marche and Abruzzo regions of Italy. It has low yields, and many of the old Pecorino vineyards have been replaced by more productive-yielding grapes. The producer is Azienda Vitmnicola  Ciù Ciù. The Pecorino vineyards are certified organic. [...]

Tenuta di Tavignano - Verdicchio Di Castello Di Jesi Misco 2014

Tenuta di Tavignano - Verdicchio Di Castello Di Jesi Misco 2014 | Wines and People | Scoop.it

The Tavignano winery produces a mere 8,000 cases of wine a year. Most is dedicated to their prized Verdicchio, the best of which comes from the Misco vineyard, a small, 3.5 hectare plot. Twenty-five year old vines produce intense, rich fruit. Notes of sweet, green almonds, acacia flowers, star anise and citrus lead into plump peach and apricot flavors. There's bright acidity, for sure, but this baby possesses far more richness and than is typical of the grape, and especially the price! I'd pay $20 plus for this and never blink. At $15.99, it is just stunning. [...]

Mariano Pallottini's insight:

The wine-making region of Le Marche, in Central Italy, is full of wine artisans, producers that have nothing to do with the industrial sector of wine.
