Le Marche Wine Tasting: Macerata vineyards

Le Marche Wine Tasting: Macerata vineyards | Wines and People | Scoop.it

The Macerata vineyards are an undiscovered joy, producing a wonderful range of unusual and extraordinary wines. Traditional and down-to-earth cantinas (with grandma at the helm) still thrive here alongside innovative and modern wineries. These tours, led by Graham, give you the opportunity to visit these wineries and discover different approaches to winemaking as well as experience a revelation of new flavours and varieties. You will observe the process of winemaking from start to finish by walking through the grounds, vineyards and cellars and discussing with the winemakers themselves. Naturally, you will be able to sample the different wines offered in each cantina alongside local produce such as bread, cheeses, salumi and chocolate. Blind tastings are also possible, as well as an opportunity to learn about the art of blending your own wine. At harvest time (late September) Graham also offers a hands-on 4 day course designed to encourage all wine lovers (regardless of previous wine knowledge and background) to go beyond the simple joy of drinking their favourite varieties and to introduce them to the wonders of actually making and being involved in every aspect of producing the wine. Imagine – making your own wine and having your name on the label of the bottle, served to you by your waiter at your favourite restaurant, or consider the pleasure of pouring your own wine at a dinner party or special event for friends and family! Alongside these events there is a chance for guests to relax and explore the culture and history of the local towns and villages as well as to enjoy the delights of the high quality restaurants of this region. Organic Wines Le Marche: Mognon, Castel Colonna

Organic Wines Le Marche: Mognon, Castel Colonna | Wines and People | Scoop.it

The Irene, Roberta and Floriano Mognon Farm was established in 1980, fulfilling the dream to leave the city for the countryside. The little farm has always been handled by the family and with passion, has produced quality wines, obtaining various national and international recognitions. The organic agriculture production is controlled and certificated by the Istituto Mediterraneo di Certificazione. A green pruning is effected, in order to control the vegetation, eliminating the grape-bunches in excess. The grapes are picked by hand in different periods, catching the optimum moment of maturity, and processed immediately.

Fattoria Serra San Martino Serra De' Conti Le Marche

Fattoria Serra San Martino Serra De' Conti Le Marche | Wines and People | Scoop.it

The Fattoria Serra San Martino lies in the heart of the Le Marche region, about 20 kms from the Adriatic coast in the hills of the Ancona hinterland.
Kirsten and Thomas Weydemann, both passionate for red wine, italian culture and style of life, have researched and found the perfect place for a vineyard project.
Nowadays the vineyards are located on the slopes facing the south and west, at an altitude of 220m above sea level. Set half way between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine Mountains, they are aerated by cool winds even during the hot summer months. The surface of the soil is characterized by clay and lime. Lower levels are predominantly sand and shell limestone.
As a consequence of the unique micro climate and the radical reduction of the harvest a superior quality of grape is guaranteed...

Wine Tour Le Marche: around Senigallia

Wine Tour Le Marche: around Senigallia | Wines and People | Scoop.it

Marche wines are not so known outside Italy and foreigners always remain surprised when, visiting this wonderful region, they discover the high quality and the wide range of products of the local wine makers. Going by cantine is always a good solution to get in touch with local people and to enjoy the countryside landscape, since they are always far away from the main cities, rounded by wineyards as far as the eye can see. In Marches this is even more true, since you have to get lost on secondary roads in the greenery of the Marchisan hills to reach some of the places we are going to suggest you...

Wine Itineraries of the Region Marche

Wine Itineraries of the Region Marche | Wines and People | Scoop.it

Our journey begins in the discovery of the Lacrima Morro d'Alba among the wineries that produce it: thanks to the tradition and to some producers in the territory's pride all the stocks of Vitis vinifera grape cultivated with Lacrima vine obtained DOC denomination, otherwise would have been explanted in favor of others. It is said that the name "Lacrima" comes from the fact that some berries, when fully mature, break and, consequently, "shed tears"...

FROM ASCOLI PICENO TO FERMO

The itinerary starts from Ascoli Piceno, one of the most fascinating cities of central Italy, and discovering affirmed denominations like Rosso Piceno Superiore and Falerio dei Colli Ascolani, goes down to Fermo, a few steps from the sea passing through small villages brimmed with history and culture as Castel di Lama, Acquaviva Picena, Ripatransone...

2010 Lacrima Rosato by Marotti Campi - Le Marche (£14)

2010 Lacrima Rosato by Marotti Campi - Le Marche (£14) | Wines and People | Scoop.it

From the Lacrima wine region and grape variety, a rosé with an image of the flower garden about it; bring on a rather novel, vivid geranium aroma with scenty roses too! It has a lovely light strawberry tinge to the colour. The taste is a little watery, but strawberries and cream are surely there. It's creamy and bright and more like an (over) subtle mixed fruit juice than a wine.
