We agreed on a combination that we all liked and then got to know each other as well as how wine is made while blending the wine, inserting corks, adding foil, designing and adding labels, we called the wine my Oinos (Oinos being the ancient Greek work for wine, which reminds of the Greek roots of the town). This amazing day ended with us drinking our own wine and having a B-B-Q together, it was a great bonding experience.

Buying wine, Italian Style in Le Marche

Buying wine, Italian Style in Le Marche | Wines and People | Scoop.it

So you go down to your local winery and ask for two white and two red, please nicely (in pigeon Italian) and this nice lady takes you over to the petrol pumps.

She then takes 4 five litre glass bottles, inserts nozzle and starts pump

While this is going on, you watch the numbers whizz round, just like you would do at a petrol station

The bill for 10 litres of delicious white wine? 10 euros and 8 cents.

Between Ancona and Macerata, Bisci is certainly one of the estates where the qualities of Verdicchio di Matelica are most valued. The vineyards were totally replanted starting from the seventies and are located at an altitude of 300-350 mts on sea level with southern exposure. The alternation of sunny days and of fresh and dry nights gives the grapes character and an extremely fine fragrance. Bisci practices organic agriculture, but is not certified organic. Integrated insect and disease control is followed. The Marche Region monitors climatic data and informs the growers in regard to the need for disease control...
