A A Badenhorst Secateurs Chenin Blanc 2011 @ Swig

A A Badenhorst Secateurs Chenin Blanc 2011 @ Swig | Wine in the World | Scoop.it

Adi Badenhorst is a man I admire and if you're a fan of craft,  graft and Chenin Blanc then you might want to give his "Secateurs" a try.

He might look like a bit of an old hippy and joke about the level of family involvement in his winery, but Adi is a character and so are his wines. If you're fed up of super-clean, bland and characterless wines then it's time to give something like this a go - and at only £10 a bottle it should suit the wallet nicely.

COSTCO discount wines in Aus - SMH

COSTCO discount wines in Aus - SMH | Wine in the World | Scoop.it

When someone says COSTCO, wine might not be the first thing that springs to mind - or a least not good wine. Maybe that's about to change?

SMH's Jeni Port takes a look at some of the offers in COSTCO's ailses, particularly the imports, and asks if maybe the Coles & Woolworths duopoly has a little bit to be worried about?

Read the article and discover if a visit to COSTCO might get your tastebuds tingling?

Where to taste wine in Bordeaux | Wine in the World | Scoop.it

It sounds like a lot has improved since I last visited, with a wealth of places to learn, taste and drink wine in Bordeaux.

Read Natasha Edwards' guide to getting to grips with grapes in Bordeaux. What a great place to go and do a bit of "research and development".

Metro Wine Map of France

Metro Wine Map of France | Wine in the World | Scoop.it

It's not often that I say something is brilliant, but this really is!

I've long thought of doing a wine guide styled as a London Tube map, but never figured out how to make it work. Along comes Dr. David Gissen and blows me away with an even better idea...a whole country's wine regions mapped out! Bravo!

The wine regions of France in a metro map...

Fine wine sales surge for Tesco - decanter.com

Fine wine sales surge for Tesco - decanter.com | Wine in the World | Scoop.it

I've always thought that if supermarket stocked more decent wine then they'd sell more decent wine. It looks like Tesco have joined Costco and figured out that it's not just cheap own-label plonk that people want.

Decanter's Richard Woodard tells how retail giant Tesco's fine wine sales have risen by 50% over the past year following an overhaul of the company's higher-priced offerings.

Grape Britain - FT.com

Grape Britain - FT.com | Wine in the World | Scoop.it

I openly admit that I'm an advocate of English wine, though I have  struggled with consistancy of quality. Personally, I think it's best to stick to the bubbles.

FT's Jancis Robinson has never felt more excited by the quality of English sparkling wine. But suggests that the finest producers consider holding their bottle for a year or two.
