The Guardian seem to be staying on course and recommending some grapes and regions you might not have tried.

 

How about a Shiraz Mataro from Rutherglen? Where??? It's in Victoria, Australia, and I happened to visit last week. I didn't try this, but I doubt that Mac Forbes would turn out anything less than a good wine.

 

There's also a recommendation from Bulgaria and a Pinot Blanc for the more adventurous.

Chateauneuf du Pape thrives partly because it's the most sophisticated sounding French name that Anglophones can pronounce, but is the wine any good?

 

If you love Shiraz, enjoy Grenache, or marvel at Mouvedre, then this might be for you. Read Jeff Leve's tasting notes of the 2010 vintage and maybe pick out one or two that you should try.

Following in the wake of AC/DC and Slayer, ex-Eurythmics muso David Stewart is releasing his own wine.

 

A re-bottling of Australian estate Mollydooker's "Carnival of Love Shiraz", the beardy one's wine is named "Ringmaster General", the same as the title of his new album.

 

At £78 a bottle, it's not going to be for your average MP3 buyer. Some would say it's a blatant PR stunt, while others might say that it's one of the first music and wine pairings. Waddaythink?
