UNESCO Launches Five Laws of Media and Information Literacy (MIL) — @joycevalenza NeverEndingSearch | Wiki_Universe | Scoop.it
“ This week UNESCO launched a framework illustrating its Five Laws of Media and Information Literacy (MIL). This global strategy marries the large, but often separated, disciplines of information literacy and media literacy and creates a common vocabulary for folks in multiple areas of knowledge to engage in conversation. It also positions these critical literacies as a combined set of competencies–knowledge, skills and attitudes–central for living and working in our world today. ”

Adaptable or Predictable? Strive for Both – Be Predictably Adaptable!

Adaptable or Predictable? Strive for Both – Be Predictably Adaptable! | Wiki_Universe | Scoop.it
“Our efforts to improve software development face the question of what to focus on. Should we govern for predictability without concern of value, maximizing cost-efficiency without concern for end-to-end responsiveness? Or maybe do the opposite and govern for value over predictability, focus on responsiveness over cost efficiency? What we really need is to be predictably adaptable.”

The 9 Best New University Buildings Around the World

The 9 Best New University Buildings Around the World   | Wiki_Universe | Scoop.it

Just as education around the world continues to evolve and innovate, so do the campuses that house the brightest future artists, scholars, and financiers. This year’s best university buildings were erected as far away as Norway and China, and some are brand-new builds engineered to accommodate tiny footprints. These new structures make the grade for state-of-the-art technology, adherence to historic detailing, and architecturally significant design.

Visual presentation of concepts makes it easier for them to understand and explain. But that doesn’t complete the learning teaching process. Notes are essential for students to revise the concepts; they can’t depend on just the videos. And making notes from videos can be a little pain. Online platforms are providing tools that not only enables you to make notes easily but also gives you access to other great features such as sharing, collaborating with others and a lot more. So In order to make notes easily from your educational videos you can use various tools that will help you do so while watching videos.

Why teachers need Formative Assessment too

Why teachers need Formative Assessment too | Wiki_Universe | Scoop.it

When you saw the image above, it may have surprised you in some way.

If you’re a teacher, you may have instantly wondered if you would, should, or could do it, and I bet if you’re an administrator you probably wished your staff already did.

Reactions I’ve had from it so far include ‘how brave’ to ‘how crazy’ to ‘that’s inspired’ to ‘what a brown nose’. But the hyperbolic reactions don’t surprise me, because being observed, no matter what anyone says or desires to be true, still remains a teacher’s most hated part of teaching, and having someone actively seek it out is …..well, just hyperbolically irregular.

For a long time I preferred to be left alone in my classroom. Here’s why:

I was confident I was doing a good job.I was confident that I could self-identify issues if or when they arose.Having someone in the room made me a little nervous, and I felt slightly unnatural as I went about my craft.I thought what I was doing in the room could be judged out of context.
