Zeitgeist: Visual Literacy A Spirit of our Age and Time

Zeitgeist: Visual Literacy A Spirit of our Age and Time | Wiki_Universe | Scoop.it

Zeitgeist is German meaning a reflection of the culture of a given age or era.  Today, especially for educators, one of the 'hottest' term (whether we like it or not) is "visual literacy". This sitte provides outstanding images of 2012 for personal and/or classroom reflection and motivation. This image reflects the stand-off of Europe's fiscal cliff.  View more at this interesting site.

Incredible post with awesome and inspiring links, clearly illustrating our changing cultural reliance on visual text and visual literacy along. The photo above is one example - the Shuttle on its way to its next 'home' drives by as two ball-players are otherwise engaged.  Photo is by Wally Skalij/Getty Images and brilliantly expresses our modern culture in ways words might fall short - clearly illustrating the  communicative power of an image.

Ken's Key takeaway:

I will definitely be sharing this link with my students next semestesr.  Lauren Moss has been featured by Scoop.it for the past two weeks as a new curator to follow. She has a WONDERFUL list of quick tips on how to be a better curator.   I fully agree with her strategy.  I hope that many of you feel that I follow it most of the time.
