Measuring curation: Introducing new Scoop.it Analytics

Measuring curation: Introducing new Scoop.it Analytics | Wiki_Universe | Scoop.it
In a survey last year of more than 1,500 professionals using content curation, 76% of them said content curation helped them reach their business goals. As content becomes more and more important to achieve success, it also becomes critical to measure how it effectively helps. In fact, as renowned businessman & author Peter Drucker put it, “If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.”Having data is is one thing, but being able to analyze it is a completely different ballgame. Data needs to be visual in order to have an impact and guide future actions, and that is why we have created a beautiful new interactive Analytics center within Scoop.it. We’ve taken into consideration some of the most important data points that guide content marketing strategies, including whether or not content resonates with an audience, times of day the audience is online, and work division between team members, and based our redesign off of them.

How to Write a Good Vision Statement

How to Write a Good Vision Statement | Wiki_Universe | Scoop.it

Strategic planning is much easier than many people realise.  If you have an intimate knowledge of your business and are able to think pragmatically about your strengths and weaknesses, you should be able to create a strategic plan fairly easily.

Take a deep-dive into each of the components and giving some tips on how to actually create them effectively.

Strategic planning is of great importance in the classroom too. Both teachers and students need to plan their work. With the teacher it is about planning for the whole year, and for the student it could be about planning for his or her research paper for the term. In all cases, planning continues to be a factor that can spell success or failure! While, no doubt this article is aimed at the business world, I see its relevance in Education too!

Darilyn Evans's curator insight, January 15, 3:24 AM

A first step in benefits realisation is being sure of what we are trying to achieve.  This article is useful in giving a step-by-step process for creating a strategic vision that doesn't end up as some generic, jargon-filled statement that is uninspiring to staff and clients alike.

Elías Manuel Sánchez Castañeda's curator insight, January 15, 3:40 PM

Strategic planning must give three products:
1. Address: Define which should be directed towards the organization (Vision, Vision and Values).
2. Focus: In what ways the organization (objectives and goals) will concentrate.
3. Alignment: Align all resources (financial, material and human) of the company.

The Future of Video Is About Learning How To Tell Great Emotional Stories

Robin Good's curator insight, April 15, 2014 6:52 AM

In this SxSW set of video interviews captured by Wipster (a collaborative video review and approval service) with some of the "experts" in the online video publishing field, you can hear most of what you already know and expect from the future of video: 4K, real-time editing, effects, 3D, small screens and more.

What instead emerges as the real challenge though, is to realize that no matter what kind of tools and services you use, the difficult part is to have a good story and to learn how to tell it on video.

Tools are great and easy indeed, but they don't make anyone a capable storyteller instantly. This is what we really need to work on.

No need to view all 12+ minutes of the video. Just check the first and the last interview in this clip and you will get the real meat.

Insightful. Informative. 7/10

Build an Innovation Engine in 90 Days

Build an Innovation Engine in 90 Days | Wiki_Universe | Scoop.it
By: Scott Anthony David Duncan Pontus M.A. SirenDecember 2014 IssuePractically every company innovates. But few do so in an orderly, reliable way. In far too many organizations, the big breakthroughs happen despite the company. Successful innovations typically follow invisible development paths and require acts of individual heroism or a heavy dose of serendipity. Successive efforts to jump-start innovation through, say, hack-a-thons, cash prizes for inventive concepts, and on-again, off-again task forces frequently prove fruitless. Great ideas remain captive in the heads of employees, innovation initiatives take way too long, and the ideas that are developed are not necessarily the best efforts or the best fit with strategic priorities. Most executives will freely admit that their innovation engine doesn’t hum the way they would like it to. But turning sundry innovation efforts into a function that operates consistently and at scale feels like a monumental task. And in many cases it is, requiring new organizational structures, new hires, and substantial investment, as the “innovation factory” Procter & Gamble built in the early 2000s did
