Must Read Report: The Internet’s Latest Disruption – Knowledge. | Wiki_Universe | Scoop.it
Know or die: risk and opportunity of Knowledge 2.0“And the web stormed the enterprise and disrupted roles, tasks and jobs: it cast speed, openness, flexibility and efficiency throughout, sparing no business processes: manufacturing, logistic, accounting, customer relation management, lead generation…”The digital mutation is also profoundly disrupting how knowledge is acquired, organized and shared. Knowledge is an intangible, yet strategic asset of any enterprise. With businesses becoming more virtual and dematerialized, its value is patently and rapidly growing. How does the enterprise adapt its Knowledge management practice to the digital age? Did the web annihilate the older knowledge management paradigms? How can the enterprise benefit, and not succumb, to a web-driven, pervasive and real-time knowledge? We at Scoop.it have noticed amongst our business clients a growing concern regarding the evolution of Knowledge sharing; we’ve run a survey (500 respondents) to better comprehend the challenges, objectives and stakes. Let’s share some insights.

European Training Networks (ETN)

ETNs are multi-partner research training networks and must be composed of at least three beneficiaries established in at least three different EU Member States or Associated Countries. Above this minimum, the participation of other organisations, including international organisations and those from Other Third Countries, is possible under the conditions provided by the Horizon 2020 Rules for Participation. Although there is no pre-defined size for these multi-partner networks, it is strongly recommended to keep the size of the consortium between 6 and 10 beneficiaries. It is expected that beneficiaries will be drawn from the academic and non-academic sectors and that ETN proposals will offer intersectoral and interdisciplinary research training as well as high-quality supervision arrangements. Each beneficiary must recruit and host at least one ESR.

Cristina Oliveira's curator insight, July 24, 3:00 AM

Applications are open for European Training Networks (ETN), until 13 January 2015.

Can MOOCs Help Professors Teach Traditional Courses More Efficiently?

Can MOOCs Help Professors Teach Traditional Courses More Efficiently? | Wiki_Universe | Scoop.it
Using free online materials such as massive open online courses in traditional classes can help colleges teach more efficiently without harming students, according to a long-awaited report from Ithaka S+R, an education-technology nonprofit group, and the University System of Maryland. However, the report notes practical barriers that might make it difficult for professors to incorporate MOOCs or similar materials into their classes without incurring other costs. Those costs might limit any gains in efficiency, according to university officials.

Becky Roehrs's curator insight, July 18, 9:36 AM

Not really. The faculty said it took a great deal of time to add the MOOC materials to their courses..

And even though the students learned as much as those without the Coursera materials, they were less satisfied! They wanted more time with their instructors..

No cost savings here: Coursera made an exception for this study: Coursera allowed the traditional courses in the study to use Coursera online courses in credit classes AND provided extensive technical assistance. Otherwise, you have to pay to add Coursera content to a credit class.

What was the real lesson learned? Open educational resources could be a good addition to traditional courses, not content from for-profit organizations..
