Government-created app suite aims to improve experience of Brazilian city | WIDE CONNECTIVITY | Scoop.it
Passaporte Curabita features a range of apps that aim to improve users' experience of the city.

While Boston authorities are making their civic services mobile with its City Hall To Go scheme, the Brazilian city of Curibita is using a new suite of apps to benefit its residents. Passaporte Curabita features a range of apps that aim to improve users’ experience of the city.

In collaboration with the Instituto Curitiba de Informático, the city has created ten apps in the series, which enable visitors or long-term residents to access free wifi, information on the cheapest groceries in the vicinity and a community chat forum. The idea behind the launch is to take advantage of digital technologies to greater integrate the city’s inhabitants with those around them. This could be particularly beneficial to older or disabled people who may have become disconnected from society...

Contests and Games Revolution
If the first web revolution was publishing, the second ecommerce, the third social connection then the fourth may be dedicated to contests and games. Powered by the ubiquitous mobile web, contests and games may be the stickiest content.

Look around. Does anyone just stare out into space anymore? Doubt it since most are staring down at their phone or pad. The death of free time and our ADD need to be stimulated at all times is powering the Contests and Games Revolution.

Once our smart phones are never more than a few feet away 24/7/365 life changes. Once Google demands that relevant content should truly and finally be KING and Internet marketing changes as profoundly as it is right now we lucky few Internet marketers must change too.

Content may be KING, but not all content is equal. We need content that springs legs and walks around the world. Internet marketers need content that brings our hard won visitors back, keeps their engagement high and word-of-mouth flowing.

The Contests and Games revolution is about how to change your Internet marketing, how to be a part of this new mobile inspired, phone as game console, marketing revolution. In addition to discussing gamification the Contests and Games Revolution will share examples of cool contests and games.

IEEE takes up the IoT mantle and talks about the importance of interoperability -- essential for building an ecosystem -- and cites a movement of global collaboration underway among companies, universities and industry. And of course, IEEE is in the business of standards, bringing forward the process of creating partnerships and consensus.

“The pervasive connectivity and distributed intelligence of the IoT will play increasingly important roles in our daily lives,” says Logvinov, IEEE Senior Member. “And standards are key to the IoT’s success.”

“Standardizing on a common architecture will help ensure interoperability, compatibility, and reliability, enabling the IoT to truly become a change agent for continued technology advancement,” says Mary Lynne Nielsen, director of corporate programs for IEEE-SA.

http://www.slideshare.net/bimplusnet/bim-marketplace-for-apps-and-enterprise-tools-16-9

To me, bim+ is a welcome change for the AEC industry. Their approach is connect people, connect tools, and connect providers and suppliers, in an open ecosystem and marketplace. This is great for the AEC industry which has seen many CAD/ISV companies claiming BIM as their own and creating closed locked-in platforms.

What I also like about bim+ is it seems to be a little bit less on the technology and more about the outcome, ultimately helping AEC companies build buildings faster.

Although bim+ is a spinoff from AEC giant Nemetschek it seems to be run as an an independent group.

I've signed 4D Pipeline to be a service provider, so if you'd like to connect to this ecosystem shoot me an email and help build buildings faster, today.

Full disclosure: 4D Pipeline has been involved with the bim+ team in helping them form the base foundation for their platform.
