Courageous leadership. You hear that term a lot these days. It is a call to commit and act; to make hard choices and take risks; and to do what’s unpopular and right. Language can be a funny thing though.

As a professional facilitator I'm often faced with entering a group or a team that believes its using consensus decision making. More often than not, they're using some weird, convenient, hybrid. I like the bared teeth approach to consensus in this article. I warn my clients from using consensus unless the formal process is completely committed to, and people understand what it requires of them. Delete the scoop?
