Paige durand's insight:

This article explores the problems of heroin in the small town in Ohio. but they focus more on black tar heroin as well.  this also dicusses the amount paid for different drugs and how this has been found to be the cheapest for of drug making it for people who would rather pay for a "balloon" of heroin rather than spend $200 for pills. so these poor drug addicts are getting more involved with harder drugs for cheaper in order to stay high.

This article is perfect for my next essay since i am doing it about heroin in small towns. This specifically talks about black tar heroin and how it is the "new high" and how dealers need to constantly make need drugs in order to stay in business. Since there is an easier access to this drug more people are willing to try it, people who have been into drugs already. But since the people who are into hard core drugs as it is they are more will to try it.  The worst part is is that this drug is cheaper than some other drugs which makes the druggies more temped to try this black tar heroin.

Howie Mandel: 'We don't take care of our mental health'

Howie Mandel: 'We don't take care of our mental health' | whats going on in the world | Scoop.it

Howie Mandel says the embarrassment and stigma surrounding mental health needs to end.

Via Douglas Eby
Paige durand's insight:

I think Howie Mandel is completely right and how mental disorders should not be ashamed of. I for one had the fear of gems and that they would somehow get me greatly ill or would spread all over me. I remember in high school how people would ask me why i constantly washed my hands or used hand sanitize just because i read someone else's paper. then once people began to notice it more, people would call me names or make me feel embarrassed because i felt like i needed to wash my hands. I finally got the help i need but i know how he felt and how horrible it was. He explains his story of his OCD, ADHD, and, depression. He explains how people actually need to get help when it first starts rather than wait since it only gets worse. But unfortunately when he was younger they did not know what his case was.

here is something for the law side of being a sperm donor child and the rights and rules of it.

Guillermo Altamirano's curator insight, February 20, 2014 5:17 PM

According to the law in different countries, each country protects the donors differently. Germany still cant protect their donors from child support, as USA does. In Spain the name of the donor is kept in secret, but in Britain is the right of the child to know who's their biological father at the age of 18. I think that in all countries the donor should be protected and out of the hook of any type of child support, but also the child have the right to know who's their biological father.

Madness and creativity: do we need to be crazy? - The mythology of the mad artist continues in various forms, supported to some extent by research. Video from World Science Festival: ‘Genius’ Dark Cousin’ – “But is there really anything to this idea of the “tortured genius”? Or is it just a romanticized notion exaggerated by film and literature? Philip Glass and Julie Taymor respond to striking data presented by Dean Keith Simonton, a psychologist who has studied the nature of genius for decades.” http://talentdevelop.com/3423/madness-and-creativity-do-we-need-to-be-crazy/

Hold on but are not sperm donor meant to be anonymous?
Paige durand's curator insight, February 5, 2014 8:35 PM

I believe this is a huge topic to be expanded on. If a sperm donor should have contact or not with said child. this can also be very controversial but as well as physiological research to see if this is damaging mentally to a sperm donor child. It can also be connected to the new MTV show that's been playing showing all of the sperm donor children trying to find their donor. this can also lead to the laws that it may get involved with too.

Sharena Hamilton's curator insight, February 13, 2014 1:34 PM

I believe this is a topic that should be brought up. I believe a child should have every right to know who they biological parents are even if one is a sperm donor. I also believe that the parent should have right to build a connection with their child even if their a sperm donor or not. Being a child and not knowing who your father or mother is can have an emotional impact on you. So I believe sperm donors should have contact with their child.

This is interesting because usually donors are anonymous. Knowing who the donor is and contacting them could potentially ruin that persons life. If the donor donated with the impression of being anonymous, then the court shouldnt give the child the right to know. that should be up to the donor

Guillermo Altamirano's curator insight, February 20, 2014 5:06 PM

now sperm donors are not allow to be anonymous anymore?  i do not think that is a good idea because what if the family is trying to get money our of the donor. i think they should make them sign a contract where it protects the donor benefits.
