I was not too surprised to se that eating whole foods is more beneficial to your health than just injecting nutrients and phytochemicals found in the food. Basically if you wanted to get the nutrition from an apple, you would have to consume an arrangement of multiple vitamin supplements; there are many beneficial phytochemicals in each fruit or vegetable! If you want to be healthy by taking in vitamins, don't take shortcuts! There is a plethera of vitamins in a healthy arrangement of fruitd and vegetables, more so than in an arrangement of supplements.

I was surprised to read that fruits and vegetables should make up around 1/3 of the food you eat! After taking the benefits of fruits and veggies into consideration, I understood why they should make up such a large part of one's diet. The main reason I was surprised was because I know not many people meet this requirement of 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, but at least no one I know has scurvy!
