President Uhuru Kenyatta will in April lead global actors in setting ablaze 120 tonnes of ivory and 1.5 tonnes of rhino horn to step up the fight against poaching.

Armed poachers on Tuesday killed a pregnant black rhino and removed her horns at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia county.The carcass of the rhino, which was 12 months pregnant, was discovered by Kenya Police Reservists on patrol.The management said the horns were missing. Two suspects were arrested.Elodie Sampere, the communications manager at the conservancy, said the rhino had a two-year-old calf that was uninjured.“The two-year-old calf was spotted a few hours later and is being closely monitored,” she said in a statement yesterday.
