A Mozambican man believed to be linked to a rhino poaching syndicate was arrested on Thursday in the Ramotsahala informal settlement, near Rustenburg, in North West, the Hawks said.
Captain Paul Ramaloko said the 28-year-old was arrested by a task team investigating rhino poaching.
He had been linked to the eight men arrested last week, who were believed to be part of a rhino poaching syndicate.
