High school students today often are criticized for having a lax attitude about academics. But the success of the early/middle college model in North Carolina demonstrates that students can excel when they are challenged with rigorous work and supported by caring teachers.

More Resources for Dual Language and Common Core | What Is A Day At College Like | Scoop.it

"Last week, I wrote about a handful of efforts that have been undertaken to translate the common standards into languages other than English for dual-language programs."

"Since then, I've learned that educators in San Francisco are beginning to work on translations for Chinese—both Cantonese and Mandarin—for the dual-language programs in that school district. Their plan, says Michele Anberg-Espinosa, a program administrator for world language/dual language in San Francisco Unified, is to "mirror" the translation process that her colleagues in Southern California have undertaken for Spanish dual programs and "augment" that for Cantonese and Mandarin."

The History Of Online Education

The History Of Online Education | What Is A Day At College Like | Scoop.it

Many of us remember back when online learning wasn’t yet a ‘thing’. Back when classes happened almost exclusively in a classroom, and the internet was something we snuck downstairs to use when our parents were asleep (if the dial-up modem didn’t wake them up).

For the most part, the people that we hear from think that online education was a pretty recent creation – definitely a child of Generation Z. Which for many people seems pretty reasonable, since that is when they most likely became aware of it. But is that actually how it happened? Check out the infographic below to see the history of online education as it actually happened instead of how you remember it!
