Gitmo Bay

Did you know that right now as I blog and you read, innocent Muslim men are being tortured under American President, George Bush's Patriot Act? Many of these men were simply picked up from Afghanistan just because they were caught on the wrong side of the battle field or simply because they were Muslim? These men are unjustly being taken from their families and being tortured in the prisons of Guantanamo Bay. Few are guilty of having connections to Al-Qaida, most are innocent. In Camp Xray (the one Obama shut down) there were over 100 men; only 10 were found guilty. Many men have been in there for months and years, and have finally been let out due to lack of evidence. Some men came out of Guantanamo and became terrorists due to the extreme torture that they have been through. These people should at least be tried in court to see if they are guilty or not. Unfortunately, they have not been given that right. Although there used to be US citizens in Guantanamo Bay, they have fortunately been let out. A young Canadian boy was taken to Guantanamo bay around the year of 2002-2003. His name is Omar Khadr. He was 15 at the time and has just been let out at the age of 25. There is footage of his interrogation on Youtube. The UN remarked and said that even if he was guilty of crime, he would be considered a child soldier and was under UN protection. He said he was guilty in the beginning, because he thought they would let him out. The next day, he realized that he was far from the truth. he was crying and said that he had told them lies the previous day, but they said he was lying by saying that. Honestly, if they valued his input, they would look in to it, but they just tell the detainee that they committed the crime. as I said, this is breaking the very Constitution that America was built on. Where is the Freedom of Religion and the Freedom of Speech in that? - Sabrina
