Graydon Gunthardt's insight:
There are many appealing benefits to cardio exercise! I sometimes go for runs usually just to exercise for the sake of exercisisng; it also is a good way to clear my mind, but according to this articles, there are even more important benefits to cardio exercise! In my opinion, the benefits I found most valuable were the loss of fat and the reduction of cravings, because
i struggled with obesity in my childhood up to my mid-teens. I was interested to see that arobic exercise can reduce nicotine cravings in smokers, and that cardio exercise can make smoking less appealing in someone's mind. I find that as I get older I will value the benefits of keeping my eyesight and preventing breast cancer. Breast Cancer, along with other cancers, has affected multiple people around me in my life, and even though I am a male I am still at risk. I knew cardio exercise was important, but I never knew the wide range of benefits it has!
Cardio exercise does not only improve your physicla health; it can improve your mental health, too! I was very surprised to see that studies have shown that cardio exercise can "boost" the brain by making it easier for the brain to multi-task for extended periods of time and stay committed to plans. I guess this makes sense, because many people say that running is half physical activity and half mental activity. I finally know what these people mean; cardio exercise does actually exercise the brain through its power to focus!
