Mobilizing Knowledge to Create Convenient Learning Moments

Mobilizing Knowledge to Create Convenient Learning Moments | WesZemel | Scoop.it

Chunks, bits and short modules make learning more manageable and easier to integrate into long-term memory. Long classroom or web-based training courses may accomplish the function of training, but rarely achieve desired retention rates. Instead of just dumping information on the learner, employees are expecting the content to be easy to find, relevant and digestible in the way their brains process information.

If you sign up to a weekend personal development workshop, you don’t really expect to emerge 10 years later a shadow of your former emotional self. What sets many groups apart from what we regard as cults is a range of powerful psychological techniques which can be difficult to see through—particularly if you are at a vulnerable time of your life. We hear the story of one woman’s escape from a cult and some insights into those persuasive techniques

"For those who read within the iBooks app of iOS, digital bookmarks are a very useful feature that work much like bookmarks do in a real paper book; you set a bookmark on a page, and you then have easy access for future reference, whether to find where you left off reading or to quickly jump to an important passage."

Showing by Doing: How Elynn Fish is using Curation to Become a Resource and Help her Clients Become one Too

Showing by Doing: How Elynn Fish is using Curation to Become a Resource and Help her Clients Become one Too | WesZemel | Scoop.it

As any entrepreneur can tell you, building a business isn't easy. In Elynn Fish's case, it was even more difficult, beacuse she was building a business based upon a concept that not many of her clients were even familiar with-digital marketing. In fact, as we previously mentioned, Elynn was still in the process of learning about curation herself! Luckily for her, and for her clients, content curation is not only a tool for marketing, but it's also a tool for learning.

Most of Elynn's clients hadn't ever heard of curation before they began doing business with her. However, as she was using it throughout the process of building her business and establishing her early clients as resources in their fields, it wasn't difficult to convince her new clients that she had the answers that they wanted. By continuing her learning process as well as that of her clients, Elynn was able to demonstrate her expertise and easily prove to her business prospects they would be able to demonstrate theirs as well.

Now, Elynn's large client base has learned how to use curation not only for their digital marketing efforts but as a resource as well. By turning herself into a resource via curation, Elynn was able to demonstrate that this would be the case for her clients once they built their Scoop.it pages.

Essentially, Elynn Fish was able to use curation to do for herself exactly what she was able to do for potential clients; building an expertise and becoming a resource.

Old Company, New Internet: How Glenn Street and Mascots.com got into Social Media

Old Company, New Internet: How Glenn Street and Mascots.com got into Social Media | WesZemel | Scoop.it

When Glenn started his company 25 years ago, the Internet wasn't very popular. As time went on and the Internet became increasingly available, though, he realized that it was the perfect tool for a small business like his - one with limited marketing dollars and a global clientele.

After creating his website, mascots.com, Glenn realized how much easier it was for him and his company to be found. In recent hears, Street and his team found value in social media. They began sharing content including information about their mascots as well as entertaining pictures and videos to spread the word about their success.

Glenn found Scoop.it while perusing articles on Mashable. He was drawn in by the concept and thought it could be an interesting addition to his social media efforts.

The intriguing aspect of Glenn's business is that it is entertainment-based. He finds that most of the content he finds on Scoop.it related to his field is entertaining to a very broad audience. Although it is always related to mascots and street characters, who doesn't love watching a giant animal do crazy things on the Internet?

Street used to find this content using Google Alerts and reviewing all of it before posting it to Twitter, Facebook, etc. Now, with Scoop.it, he has all of his content in one place and is able to go through it and feed it directly to his networks. He has found this is a great way to create good looking content and increase his SEO.

Content Curation your secret weapon - Drive Traffic & Find New Customers

Content Curation your secret weapon - Drive Traffic & Find New Customers | WesZemel | Scoop.it
Using Content Curation To Find New Customers.

Being an Internet marketer for many years I’ve seen the landscape change many times but one thing has stayed the same “Content is King”, when it comes to driving traffic to a website.

As a business owner we all want to get new customers to our websites. Many have tried blogging to drive traffic to their website and due to a shortage of hours in a day they end up dropping the blog or hiring ghost writers to develop content for the site. We now have a new player on the net and it comes in the form of Content Curation. No it will not completely eliminate business owners creating content for their website but adds a whole new area of content development for a website.

Over the past two years I’ve tested different content curation sites and tools and have found Scoop.it to be the leader in both innovation and traffic building potential.

Below are examples on how Scoop.it can drive traffic and help to show the world, yes the world that your business knows your market.

In this article are 3 areas that when done correctly can drive new traffic to your business or brand.

His previous business, Musiwave, was a pioneer of mobile music back in the early 2000's, introducing many of the first hit products in that market. He grew it into the leader of its space, powering the music platforms of major mobile operators worldwide, before it was eventually acquired by Microsoft in 2007.

After graduating from Polytechnique in France, Guillaume earned a Master's degree from Stanford University back in '95.

A User Guide to the Marrakesh Treaty | LLRX.com | WesZemel | Scoop.it

On June 27, 2013, a Diplomatic Conference of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) held in Marrakesh, Morocco adopted the "Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired, or Otherwise Print Disabled." The Treaty is intended to promote the making and distribution of copies of books and other published materials in formats accessible to people with print disabilities. The Treaty would achieve this objective by obligating signatory countries (referred to as Contracting Parties) to adopt exceptions in their copyright laws that permit the making of copies in accessible formats as well as the distribution of those copies both domestically and internationally.
