5 Creative Uses Of PowerPoint Presentations You Haven’t Explored Yet

5 Creative Uses Of PowerPoint Presentations You Haven’t Explored Yet | Wepyirang | Scoop.it

Death by PowerPoint is a popular term. It’s unfair that PowerPoint gets the stick as there are more than a few presentation tools around. As anyone who has taken the pains to make a memorable PowerPoint presentation will tell you – the secret of the steak is in the sizzle. The sizzle also comes and stops at creativity. If you have creativity by your side, you can use PowerPoint as your canvas.

5 Creative Uses Of PowerPoint Presentations

Karen Ford's curator insight, November 4, 2013 9:53 AM

I think "death by PowerPoint" is used so often because so many users have not "taken the pains to make a memorable..." presentation and the concept of creativity might not have even been considered. Not totally sure what the answer is, but I do believe that if more individuals could have their eyes opened to the potential that PowerPoint has, we might be able to get passed the "death" issue. That means we have to get the great ideas to the teachers and  their students... not just telling them, but perhaps showing them...

recentlyrue recently I had to get students to use Powerpoint as the Internet connection was too slow to have them all work at once on other online presentation tools. Have started showing students during Google presentation tutorials how to outline their presentations like they always do with those bulleted lines on the slides.  Then take those sentences, change them into titles, and put one title on each slide. Select one image per slide. If needed, add URL links. Add the works cited for the image in tiny print at the bottom of the slide. Move those outlined bulleted points to the note section or toss into a document to print out for a group presenetation.

No more slides crowded with text and 4 images! No more students sleeping in the classroom while their classmates read from the Smartboard.

Susan Kay Daniels's curator insight, January 13, 6:30 AM

This is a PowerPoint presentation that would have sent my former employers into shock. They had no imagination whatsoever. However, Eugene Cheng clearly has wonderful artistic skills and knows how to present them. In addition, he clearly has a nice budget to work with. These kind of beautiful graphics don't come at low price. I thoroughly enjoyed glancing through this presentation and plan to use it as inspiration for future projects.

Warmly,

Create, Organize and Edit Cross-Format Presentations Online with Bunkr

Via Robin Good
more...
Robin Good's curator insight, May 4, 2013 4:12 AM

Bunkr is a new web app which allows you to easily collect and organize all of your existing content and images and to build up visual presentations by easily dragging and dropping your selected items into a dedicated presentation area.

Bunkr slides can be easily edited, with text, images or video clips. Slides can be easily deleted, moved or rearranged intuitively.

An integrated library + search facility makes it easy to organize in a professional way all of your imported content so that you can use it for more than just one time.

The final presentation can be saved, previewed and exported to HTML5 iframe embed code, PDF or PPTX formats for final publication and distribution.

My initial impressions are quite positive as the tool feels fast, and quite intuitive (after you have seen the tutorial clips). From there everything works as expected and once you have imported your selected content, you can build a presentation in a matter of minutes.

Some features that would make Bunkr an immediate winner with me would be:

a) Ability to search for resources (content+images+video) out on the web

b) Option to import an image in a slide and have it automatically fill the whole slide

c) Better text control handling (small controls, low usability) to make it easy to edit text easily and format it faster

d) Some great display fonts

Free to use.

Try it out now: http://bunkr.me

Check out these mini-tutorial clips:

Definitely worth trying out.
