Donald Trump may be forced to release his tax returns

Donald Trump may be forced to release his tax returns | Welfare, Disability, Politics and People's Right's | Scoop.it
Democrats in Congress are attempting to use an obscure, decades-old law to try to force Donald Trump to publish his tax returns. Bill Pascrell, a Congressman representing New Jersey who serves on the House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, asked its chairman, Kevin Brady, to order the Treasury Department to release the President’s tax returns to the committee. A little-known law passed in 1924 gives congressional committees that decide on tax policy the right to examine tax returns.

Sabrina Ortiz's curator insight, Today, 7:31 AM

This scoop it speaks on 10 things you learn from being raised by a strong woman. What I found interesting about this article was the first half of this article I was taught by my father. To learn to value independence was taught to me by my dad. To never need a man and to stand on my own with my own goals and aspirations. Learning the meaning of unconditional love came from both my mom and dad. Sacrificing everything they have and expecting nothing in return. The learn to love myself was a big thing at my house. Put onto me by my dad to care and look out for myself. To show and give myself all the love I need. The second half was taught to me by mother. Learning that you can be both strong and soft. She was always very powerful and said what she wanted and yet could be so gentle. She always showed me how it was not easy being a woman and the everyday struggles we faced. Never looking back, I got from myself and learning to be patient and faithful as well. Letting go of what has happened and be patient with my family and life but still remaining faithful. Just being an all around good person and future mom was discussed in this article. I found all theses states to be true and should be applied to everyday life. It was just a reminder of who I want to be.

In a month, the Trump family has cost taxpayers almost as much as the Obamas did in a year

In a month, the Trump family has cost taxpayers almost as much as the Obamas did in a year | Welfare, Disability, Politics and People's Right's | Scoop.it
Donald Trump’s family’s trips have cost taxpayers nearly as much in a month as Barack Obama’s cost in an entire year. The US President’s three visits to his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida since his presidential inauguration, combined with his sons’ business trips, reportedly cost $11.3m (£9.1m).

Sabrina Ortiz's curator insight, Today, 8:06 AM

This scoop it spoke on how Trump’s family trips are coasting us tax payers millions of dollars. This article starts off by explaining that one month of Trump’s trips cost close to the same amount as Obama’s entire year. They go on to explain that Obama spent 12.1 million every year in travel expenses. I do not think its far the amount of money he is spending in protection for himself and his family. Why do we care about his sons? Why do American’s have to pay for the protection of son’s and their business trips. The article explains that the Trump family spends 11.3 million on business trips. They go to explain how truly expensive it is to keep protection on Trump and his family with number like $360,000 for police and $88,320 for secret service. These numbers are ridiculous and the fact that he needs this much protection just shows how much people hate him. The article explains how they put agents in the hotel and how they had to scope out the area. This large amount of money could be put towards schools or homeless shelters or helping college students. It’s ridiculous how much of a sliver spoon lifestyle this man aka our president has lived. He criticized Obama for taking “vacation on taxpayer money” but here he is doing just that but on a whole new level and in much shorter time. I feel like the money could be put to better use.
