We talk about PLCs, PLNs, and PLEs, but too often folks aren't quite sure how to introduce them or implement them well. Taking your time to do it well and right and starting small make sense when introducing any large initiative. This is a great article to learn from someone else's efforts to help ensure your own are successful.

Integrating Moodle and Office 365 for Education

Integrating Moodle and Office 365 for Education | Web Tools and Other Technology Resources | Scoop.it

We’re continuing to build the list of integration resources that we provide for Moodle, so that schools, TAFEs and universities can integrate their Moodle platforms more securely with the rest of their existing infrastructure. This is a common goal for central IT teams, where they want to ensure their users (both staff and students) are able to move seamlessly between their different systems, and their data isn’t locked into a single platform. For example, rather than having learning resources locked away within their Learning Management System it’s possible to use the content management of SharePoint, and storage space of OneDrive (the new name for SkyDrive), to ensure that users have access even when they are not using Moodle directly, or to provide content management such as version control for staff. In the past I’ve written about the SkyDrive/OneDrive plugin for Moodle and the Moodle kit for Windows Azure.

The latest plugin from Microsoft integrates Moodle with Office 365 and OneDrive. This allows teachers to create courses and assignments in Moodle that can be read, edited, and submitted by students in SharePoint.

4 reasons you'll like Microsoft's new OneDrive

Microsoft's rebranding of its cloud-storage service SkyDrive to OneDrive is more than just a name change. Here are four new features that make the service even better.

Danica Kloes's curator insight, March 4, 11:01 AM

I think that OneDrive already sounds a lot better than the SkyDrive we have right now. I can't say that SkyDrive is bad because I don't really use it, but it didn't seem that important except to back up files. The idea of more free storage is good, because the couple times I checked out SkyDrive I felt like they really weren't offering enough (I believe it was only a couple GB). The real-time collaboration feature will make things much easier on students in particular; you won't have to worry about meeting up to work on some things anymore. The video sharing isn't very innovative, but it's convenient for people that share videos often. And for the people that have the Windows phone, I'm sure they will appreciate the new OneDrive app.

Ivon Prefontaine's curator insight, August 19, 8:25 PM

Students love making things. I found we could set up projects in the classroom and students would finish them at home with parents supervising. I always clarified the parents' roles as supervisory. It worked well and students learned complex concepts more easily building projects.

It’s finally happened. After so many years of speculation, an official app featuring all of Microsoft’s popular Office applications is available for the iPhone.

It’s called ‘Office Mobile for Office 365 subscribers’, which is hardly the most attractive name, but a little besides the point at this stage. For iOS users with an active Office 365 subscription, it means they can access, view and edit any file previously saved in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Powerpoint."
