Easily create your own 3D pop-up book, great for lots of uses. The site is free, but requires an email address for registration
The books are super easy to create, can include a mix of pictures and text. Pictures can be imported from your computer so you can use your own pictures or download pictures from the internet. Animoto is a free website for creating digital stories. It is easy to use and comes with templates and background music. Just select the images and text you want to use and a great video comes out. With a teacher account you can set up student accounts so that students can create powerful multimedia presentations about your content area.

Wolfram Alpha is a different kind of search engine. Type in a question or a topic and Wolfram Alpha will send back data, statistics, charts and graphs about your topic. Wanna know about cloud cover in Mexico City? (http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=cloud+cover+Mexico+City&lk=3) Wanna see what the element carbon looks like? (http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=carbon&lk=3) What about the probability behind a full house in poker? (http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=poker+full+house&lk=3)

This is a great search engine to try side-by-side with Google and see what different kinds of information can be found. A great way to get authentic data for a math class or visual information support for students with IEPs. Try it out!

Each WebQuest has an introduction, task, process, evaluation and an evaluation rubric.

Once complete you have a web address that can be posted to a learning management system like Blackboard and shared with your students.

Have a SMART Notebook file that you need to open or edit, but don't have your work laptop handy? This site from SMART Technologies allows you to open, edit and create SMART Notebook files without having SMART Notebook installed on your computer. There is even a free download of SMART Notebook Express available. While it doesn't have all the functionality, it can be a great help.

This is a free quiz site that focuses mainly on Math skills, but also has World Language (French, Spanish, German) along with Science and Geography skills. The site is available in English, French and Spanish.

 

Teacher accounts are free with registration, students can be assigned specific quizzes with a quiz code, teachers receive the results along with a list of any incorrect answers.

What is Voicethread? Voicethread is a website where students can have "conversations in the cloud." There is a central image/video/drawing that students can comment on using text, voice, or video. Students can carry on a conversation or leave commentary about an image or video.
