Comfortably 2.0: The PD Challenge

Comfortably 2.0: The PD Challenge | Web Tools in Education | Scoop.it

 by Craig Badura

"I recently blogged about how I had begun creating App Task Challenges for the teachers in our district.  The challenges have been well received and I think teachers actually enjoy the process of completing the challenges and then having an idea on how to easily integrate an app into their curriculum.

"I wanted our teachers to be active, moving, collaborating, designing. I began thinking that I could achieve these results by creating a "challenge" for our PD day.  I came up with a challenge in which teachers (in their PLC's) had to create a 30 second public service announcement using the iMovie app.  Their topic:  "How To..."   Click here to see the details of the challenge. "

I found as I was leaving education that there is a shift or an increased shift towards these external challenges. In our district, it was 180 days of blogging or something along those lines. I felt it was largely so the people who challenged us to built their creds on the work others did. What does awesome mean? What does amazing mean? Those are words I hear associated with this process. We have to remember there is a finite number of people who actually engage in these challenges. Does it constitute real personal and professional learning?
