Download Over 250 Free Art Books From the Getty Museum | Digital World Tools & Enhancements | Scoop.it
Getty Publications just announced the launch of its Virtual Library, where readers can freely browse and download over 250 art books from the publisher’s backlist catalogue.
Alexina's insight:
The Getty has released digital copies of publications they have produced over the last 40 years. These are exhibition catalogs, symposium papers, translated volumes, etc. They are only for personal use, so I cannot put them in our virtual library in InWorldz, but I can put up a poster with a link to them. Here is part of the Getty's terms of use: "Publications in the Virtual Library are available to individuals for private study, scholarship, and research purposes only; reproduction and distribution, even for non-commercial use, is prohibited. Downloading material for any commercial use is prohibited. The Getty owns the copyright for the books; individual images and texts within these publications may also be separately protected by the copyright of their respective creators or other third parties and may require further permissions for use outside the scope of the publications in which they are contained. - See more at: http://www.getty.edu/publications/virtuallibrary/terms.html#sthash.3sqlRuB0.dpuf";

Three-point editing and four-point editing helps an editor weed out the bad bits in an efficient and fast manner, like a factory assembly line. The name of the game is efficiency.

Editing programs allow you to trim clips in different ways, in this piece, the writer shares his workflow and gives a good overview on two different protocols for the editor.

Why every child should learn to code

Why every child should learn to code | Digital World Tools & Enhancements | Scoop.it
Will every job involve programming? No. But it is crucial we equip new generations with the ability to
think about the world in a new way. By Dan Crow
Alexina's insight:

Teaching "computational thinking" to children. Quote: "The Year of Code is an amazing initiative and one I am very proud to be supporting. It brings together computer scientist, entrepreneurs, business leaders and political thinkers to promote the education of our children for the world to come. The aim is to ensure that every British school child learns to code; not in a decade from now, but next school year. The charity will help train teachers on the new curriculum and promote the growth of a coding culture in the UK."

I know I've been Scooping a lot about Scoopit today - feels slighty naughty, even because I do LOVE them so much. (and I'm NOT on the payroll - not even a hoodie or a t-shirt!)

Flatteringly but maddeningly, I get emails every day from companies wanting my shout outs, RT's, & blog focus nonwithstanding that I say my regard can't be bought (though a hoodie goes a long way ;-) lol --So here's why....

Scoopit is a one stop shop for glossy gorgeous customizable digital curation coolness!

It organizes for you, it Tweets for you, it collaborates and publishes all with a click using the handy bookmarklet on my toolbar. Nom nom yummy!
