Typography 101: Everything a Beginner Should Know

Typography 101: Everything a Beginner Should Know | Web Design e SEO | Scoop.it

Typography is both an art and a technique. Once created through printed materials, typography is all about arranging type in a way that enables learning and recognition.

However, typography is more than just the design of the letters and characters -- it also involves careful arrangement and selection of point size, line length, and spacing both on a single line and throughout an entire page. If you know the basics of typography, you will be able to lay out an arrangement of headers, paragraphs, etc. in an attractive and convincing way.

Typography is absolutely everywhere -- just look at your phone, a billboard, your coffee cup, or even the different styles used in this blog post. Once you’re conscious about the fact that typography is used all around you, you’ll start to recognize the differences between typefaces and why they might’ve been selected...

The Science of Storytelling | SocialTimes

The Science of Storytelling | SocialTimes | Web Design e SEO | Scoop.it

The chemical and psychological makeup of our minds affects how we consume content: Our brains are wired to connect with compelling stories.

Brand storytelling tactics focus on different functions of the brain related to understanding and perception. The brain processes images 60 times faster than text, and 92 percent of consumers want brands to create stories around ads. Because of this, marketers should be delivering linear content with clear narratives and using images to tell their stories.

OneSpot has put together the following infographic to demonstrate how storytelling affects the brain and how brands can cut through the noise to offer stories that resonate with readers....

Responsive designs are the window into the future of web portability to drive higher per user engagement by embedding the concept of Probability Scores. An aggregate of Content Scores & Engagement Scores are debated prior to finalizing which sections gets a higher Probability Score that will eventually determine content position in the responsive design layout. Probability Scores aims at achieving better per user click through rate owing to its full width auto adaptive content display interface that adjust the landing page  content based on the device.

Earlier websites used to feed different URLs for different devices. For example m.sitename.com or mobile.sitename.com indicated that the URL is for mobile or smart devices. But now things have changed thanks for responsive design attributes that determines the device that is trying to access the site URL before optimizing the content layout to adjust automatically with the device interface. This way the same URL is serving any device that is trying to access the website which again is compliance for search engine algorithm.

Responsive design has the advantage to every inch of the device or browser interface to maximize the user’s engagement intent possibility. Compelling visual storytelling theme powered by catchy headlines or titles richly feed with an interesting content copy furthermore elevates user interest to engage. This nature in elevating intent & urge to get involved have statistically indicated the favourability of lead generation & conversion rates from responsive designs.

Mobile devices will overtake PC user worldwide citing encouraging statistics to enthuse responsive design for websites, emails & landing pages. Responsive design layouts devised with #ProbabilityScores are based on the overall marketing objectives & branding goals. An implosive content marketing strategy with a creative team of visual storytellers delivers inspiring results and therefore the greater goodness is in the adoption of Responsive Site Design.

#ProbabilityScores <> #ContentScores <> #ContentEngagement

The Ideal Length for All Online Content

The Ideal Length for All Online Content | Web Design e SEO | Scoop.it

Every so often when I’m tweeting or emailing, I’ll think: Should I really be writing so much?

I tend to get carried away. And for the times that I do, it sure would be nice to know if all this extra typing is hurting or helping my cause. I want to stand out on social media, but I want to do it in the right way.

Curious, I dug around and found some answers for the ideal lengths of tweets and titles and everything in between. Many of these could have been answered with “it depends,” but where’s the fun in that?

Solid research exists to show the value of writing, tweeting, and posting at certain lengths. We can learn a lot from scientific social media guidelines like these. Here’s the best of what I found.

Handy starting point

Susan Burnell's curator insight, April 21, 2014 5:07 PM

Interesting. I have to disagree with blog length - 1600 words (about a 7-minute read) might be good for SEO, but it's a long time to expect readers to stay with you. Respect their time and keep it short
