Why Are So Many Social Media Managers Dipshits?

Why Are So Many Social Media Managers Dipshits? | Web Content Enjoyneering | Scoop.it
I’ve collected eight recent social media posts by large companies. Most of these updates are from the last month. To try to pick the abjectly stupidest one would not be easy.

Today, many of the social media managers at large and important companies are, by contrast, not very smart ad men. To say that they regularly underestimate their customers’ intelligence would be a great understatement. They seem to believe their customers have the brain power of a baked potato.

Gov't to develop speech translation app for ambulance crews
NATIONAL SEP. 04, 2015 - 06:51AM JST ( 32 ) TOKYO —
The government will develop a multilingual speech translation app for use by ambulance crews on their smartphones as the number of foreign tourists is expected to increase with the hosting of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, government officials said Thursday.

The Fire and Disaster Management Agency hopes to provide speedy emergency care to foreign visitors and save more lives by enabling ambulance crew members to communicate more smoothly.

The agency plans to begin using the smartphone app during the fiscal year from April 2019. The app is expected to translate Japanese into English, Chinese and Korean, and vice versa, and have the ability to handle some technical words, including people’s medical conditions and the names of drugs.

It has requested about 60 million yen in the government’s budget for the next fiscal year from April 2016 for the development of the app, and research and development of a next-generation ambulance.

The agency also plans to spread the use of the app to fire departments across the country and increase the languages the app can handle if its initial use proves effective, according to the officials.

The app will be designed so that if an ambulance crew member speaks some Japanese words into it, it will recite them in one of the other languages chosen, with a text message on display. Patients’ responses will be translated into Japanese through the app.

Questions asked by the crew would include whether those needing treatment are covered by travel insurance and their medical history.

Currently, ambulance crews use illustrations or a telephone interpretation service to communicate with people who do not speak Japanese.

According to the Tokyo Fire Department, the number of foreigners who used ambulances in its area grew to 8,482 in 2014 from 6,777 in 2012 and 7,644 in 2013.

Traduzioni di articoli: pubblicare post tradotti da altre lingue? | Web Content Enjoyneering | Scoop.it

How to successfully write content for people and search engines • Circa Lingua

How to successfully write content for people and search engines • Circa Lingua | Web Content Enjoyneering | Scoop.it
When we’re implementing our content marketing strategies, this question always pops up. How can I write content that ranks higher in search engines and is appealing to people at the same time?
You probably know that there are different writing techniques depending on what we want to achieve with our piece of content. Sometime we want to sell a product, sometimes we want to attract people to sign up to our newsletter, etc. But when it comes to SEO-targeted content, some people out there forget that apart from Google, real people are going to read their content and, at the end of the day, it’s up to them to do what you want them to.
Although some experts keep telling us that content must be optimised for search engines, I personally think (and I’m sure that some of you won’t agree with me) that it’s even more important that our content is focused on our readers. They are the pillars of our content and thanks to them we’ll achieve (or not) our objectives. And then, we’ll have the time to adapt it to the search engines. Do you want to know how I write content for people and search engines? Then, stay with me!

Last week, I came across this excellent, semi-hilarious informal study by Tobias Hermann, aka Dobiasd, which digs into 20+ programming languages and reviews the conversations, comments and sentiments from their respective subreddit feeds (WARNING: this may be NSFW due to profanity recorded by users). Regardless, I loved what I saw, and wanted to reach out to Tobias to ask him if he’d like a little coverage on the Typesafe blog, and why he ran this fascinating experiment. Responding humbly and with a good degree of perceivable curiosity, Tobias wrote me back...

As an SEO company, knowing your industry gives you an edge. In professional fields like law, medicine, dental, engineering, etc. there are certain rules, laws, regulations, and guidelines that must be abided to in order to stay compliant. Most professional industries are overseen by federal government, state government, oversight committees, regulatory commissions, and the like. Choosing an SEO company that can create your website, write content, put out press releases, manage your reputation, use the correct keywords, and much more while staying compliant is imperative.

Social Media success does take time. Persevere and you will be rewarded.

(From the article): So yes, the immediate benefit of social media marketing is awareness and that is IMPORTANT because awareness leads to engagement. Over time, that engagement may result in trust. And it’s not until we get to that point that we can begin seeing some cash coming in the door … maybe years down the line.

This is why social media marketing can be a hard sell to executives who are accustomed to the overnight results of advertising. Unfortunately, many traditional kinds of advertising present diminishing returns as people spend less time with newspapers, local radio, and network television. For this reason, it makes good sense to start moving up that social media sales curve now, right?

The Rise of the Almost-Flat Design Web Trend

The Rise of the Almost-Flat Design Web Trend | Web Content Enjoyneering | Scoop.it

Starting as an alternative to the then-popular skeuomorphic style, flat design originated as a wholly simplistic and minimalist style that lived up to it’s name. Throughout the last few years, however, it’s been evolving to satisfy the shifting tastes of users and to implement the advancements of technology.Flat design in its current state (what Ryan Allen calls “Flat 2.0”) is a style different than, but similar to, what it was in the past.
