We are headed towards a web of context - where the ability to not just find something, but to place it in a world where a deeper understanding and meaning is present will dominate how and what we do online. 
The idea of the semantic web has been around for quite a few years. Many have coined it web 3.0 or view it as a large sub-component of web 3.0. In short, the semantic web is a web of data. 
The following future internet video presentation is based on the The Future Internet Public Private Partnership as defined in a white paper released by the European Future Internet Initiative (EFII). 
Google CEO Eric Schmidt was recently at the Seoul Digital Forum and he was asked to define Web 3.0 by an audience member. After first joking that Web 2.0 is "a marketing term", Schmidt launched into a great definition of Web 3.0.
