Storytelling tools for ESL students #1 Storybird

Storytelling tools for ESL students #1 Storybird | Web 2.0 Tools in the EFL Classroom | Scoop.it

I believe storytelling is a very powerful teaching resource for young learners. They feel comfortable with it, and when they read or listen to a story they stop caring about “understanding every single word" of it.

Susan's insight:

I have used Storytelling with 15-year olds!  They also loved it.  If you get your students to write their stories directed towards young children, it helps them to use simple vocabulary and structures which is great writing practice for them.  Afterwards they can share them on a wiki/blog/moodle site.  Very rich! I'm attaching two examples of my students' stories.

Classroom on the App Store

Classroom turns your iPad into a powerful teaching assistant, helping a teacher guide students through a lesson, see their progress, and keep them on track. With Classroom, you can easily launch the same app on every student device at the same time or launch a different app for each group of students. Classroom helps teachers focus on teaching so students can focus on learning.

Zoobe is a free 3D animated message app for iOS and Android. Pick a
character, add your own voice and pictures as background and you will get a
video that will amaze your friends in seconds. You can choose among
Paddington, Om Nom by Cut the Rope, The Smurfs, Street Fighter, Maya the
Bee, Willy, Vicky the Viking and many more. Great for birthdays, greetings,
surprises or to use in your mobile messaging apps and chat conversations.
Susan's insight:

Kids love this app.  They get to choose their own well-known character and add 30 seconds of their own voice recording.  An excellent tool to create short greetings or sayings in a foreign language as students can hide within the character and yet still practise oral pronunciation and intonation at the same time. And it's fun...
