Completely FREE Management App for 1:1 iPad Classrooms - Class Tech Tips

Completely FREE Management App for 1:1 iPad Classrooms - Class Tech Tips | Web 2.0 for Education | Scoop.it

"Otus is a terrific management tool for teachers in one-to-one classrooms who want an easy way to keep track of student work, provide opportunities for collaboration, and so much more.  I’ve had the opportunity to share Otus with my readers and webinar attendees and want to highlight one of the fantastic aspects of this powerful app – Otus is completely FREE for students and teachers.

With Otus teachers can keep track of participation, send notes to students, and take attendance.  They can also recognize student behavior by awarding points and group students.  The bookshelf feature lets teachers organize folders of resources to share with students – this can be done for whole class, individual, or create groups of students.  Otus gives teachers the power to create, assign, and grade assessments.  It is also simple to share these assessments with colleagues who may wish to use the same one or modify it for their students."

If you have Chrome installed on computers at your school consider checking out this app called Fluency Tutor. The website states FluencyTutor "is an easy-to-use, time-saving leveled reading and assessment tool that helps busy teachers support struggling readers. Teachers pick reading passages based on content, lexile level or reading age and share with individual students or groups via Google Drive."

Students may access material from home or school and can record passages. Text-to-speech, a dictionary, a picture dictionary and translation tools are also available.

The teacher dashboard and the student area for interaction is free. If you want to be able to see analytics, track progress, and more there is a charge of $99 per year (for teachers).

Tools such as this are great free resources for many students. You might also want to check out Read&Write for Google.

This post provides links to six websites that provide virtual field trips. The majority of the trips are geared to students from grades 3 - 8, but check them out. You may find that they are great for your class.
