11 BYOD Apps That Keep The Focus On Content

11 BYOD Apps That Keep The Focus On Content | Web 2.0 for Education | Scoop.it

"Concerns around BYOD usually involve privacy and legal issues, but one of the primary points of BYOD is allowing students to access content and curriculum directly via devices they’re familiar with. The following 11 apps can be used in a BYOD classroom to help keep the focus on content and publication, rather than the aforementioned digital fences that academic institutions can sometimes get distracted by."

Via EDTC@UTB
Lee Hall's insight:

Some of these apps make BYOD so useful. Evernote and dropbox put an end to your students looking for their flashdrive.

Some useful applications here. I regularly use Evernote, Google Drive and You Tube with my students. Instead of Padlet we use Linoit as a creative space for posting material and uploading multimedia for a variety of activities.

Sticky notes always work well in face-to-face workshops so this online version looks good. Up to 5 collaborators with the free plan - notes can then be saved as a PDF

Barbara Goebel's curator insight, July 7, 10:05 PM

The interface seems a little buggy, but the possibilities are broad. Can't get an invitation email to load, some sticky windows become unresponsive. Hope for fixes, so we can try this for teaching team collaboration, if nothing else.

Apps vs Web Tools: Key Factoids To Know About Both Options - Edudemic | Web 2.0 for Education | Scoop.it
Using smartphones and tablets in the classroom isn’t necessarily innovative anymore. For some schools it is the norm, still others are just jumping on the bandwagon of using mobile devices (both in BYOD environments and in scenarios where schools supply the technology). That isn’t to say that a lot of classrooms aren’t using desktop and …
