Free Technology for Teachers: SeeSaw - Easily Create Digital Portfolios on iPads, Chromebooks, and Android Tablets

Free Technology for Teachers: SeeSaw - Easily Create Digital Portfolios on iPads, Chromebooks, and Android Tablets | Web 2.0 for Education | Scoop.it
SeeSaw, a powerful and popular iPad app for creating digital portfolios, is now available as a Chrome web app and as an Android app. The new apps allow students to create and add content to digital portfolios.

Through SeeSaw students can add artifacts to their portfolios by taking pictures of their work (in the case of a worksheet or other physical item), by writing about what they've learned, or by uploading a short video about things they have learned. The SeeSaw apps students can add voice comments to their pictures to clarify what their pictures document. Students can create folders withing their accounts to organize content from multiple subject areas.

50 Apps for the Foreign Language Classroom - teachingwithipad.org | Web 2.0 for Education | Scoop.it

"I enjoy discussing iPad and other edtech resources with my colleague and friend Sylvia Duckworth almost every week through Twitter. Sylvia is a leader in the French teaching community in Canada, and has created an enormous amount of resources for language teachers to use. I asked her if she wanted to collaborate on this post, and she quickly agreed to do so. Below is a list of iPad apps that we both use in our language classrooms. The ones marked with an * are the essential, must-have ones. We have divided the list into two categories: Content consumption apps and content creation apps."

Which Adapter Do I Need to Mirror My iPad?

You can use an adapter and a cable to mirror exactly what's on your iPad's
display onto a projector or television screen. When picking out an
adapter, you need to know if your device has a Lightning or 30-pin Dock
connector. You also need to know if your projector has HDMI or VGA input.
Use this flowchart to help you choose from among the four possible
adapters.

Edutopia is one of my favourite web sites. It has recently run a series written by Monica Burns aka @ClassTechTips featuring Resources for Using iPads across multiple grade levels. Though I've featured them each individually here on iPads in Education I thought it might be useful to post all of the series in one collection.

25 iOS Secret Features You Likely Didn’t Know About | Redmond Pie

25 iOS Secret Features You Likely Didn’t Know About | Redmond Pie | Web 2.0 for Education | Scoop.it
While it’s true that iOS started out as a relatively basic operating system for the iPhone and iPod touch, the software and its list of features have grown and matured over the years. Nowadays iOS is feature rich, so much so that we’re willing to bet that there are quite a few things hidden within iOS that lots of people don’t know even exist.

With that in mind we set about putting together a list of features and tools within iOS that we didn’t think everyone would know existed. Initially, we kicked the idea off with a handful of items for our list, but eventually it grew into a list of no fewer than 25 tips and features that we hope will surprise at least some of you, ranging from hidden Siri commands to special Emoji.

Mrs. Barnett's First Grade Class: Read to Self on the iPads - Scholastic Books

Mrs. Barnett's First Grade Class: Read to Self on the iPads - Scholastic Books | Web 2.0 for Education | Scoop.it
One way we use our iPads during Daily Five time is to Listen to Reading. We do this with a variety of apps, but I love trying to also use the "native" apps and what I already have in my classroom. Combine old CD's from Scholastic with books read aloud on them with the music app and you have a 2.0 version of a listening center!

Like many teachers, I had stacks of CD's that we no longer used because of our iPads. In fact, I am not sure that all of my students would even know how to use a CD player! I held on to the CD's because they had great audio of books being read aloud on them. I thought and thought and finally figured out how to import them to my students iPads

A great way to still use your old CD's of audio books.
