Rather than focusing on encouraging positive behavior in the Montessori environment, we sometimes focus on discouraging bad behavior.

As adults, we have a responsibility to teach by example, and that includes how to deal with bad behavior in students. In all cases, leading by example means setting a standard for positive behavior, rather than trying to discourage negative behavior.
