Wayne Hartung on Starting a Small Business

Wayne Hartung on Starting a Small Business | Wayne Hartung | Scoop.it

Wayne Hartung shows you what it takes to start a small business.

Wayne Hartung's insight:

Wayne Hartung is the person you are looking for if you want to succeed in business. As a 19 year old student at the University of Alabama, Wayne Hartung decided to go into business for himself. He started Hartung Commercial Properties, Inc. Wayne Hartung also became a vice president of a Fortune 500 company. Wayne Hartung is still the president of Hartung Commercial Properties, Inc., as well as the president of Marshall Auto Painting and Collision. Both companies are located in southeast Alabama with locations in Florida as well.

“I will advise small business owners to join their local Small Business Association and also seek a government grant,” says Wayne Hartung. His many years as a successful business owner give him the credibility to give advice to those who want to succeed.

Wayne Hartung will next point out that the government does not hand out grants for starting a small business, but you can apply for programs that will help you with start-up loans. Wayne Hartung will advise you that working with the Small Business Association in your area, you’ll receive the guidance you need to succeed.

Wayne Hartung also recommends that you find a mentor or an adviser. A mentor in business will help answer questions you have asked, and questions you have not thought of asking. They will be able to give you insight on what to expect, what to look out for, and what to completely avoid. Wayne Hartung says mentors are great resources and often have a wealth of knowledge.

Wayne Hartung says that a key item many small business owners fail to produce is a business plan. A business plan is crucial to your success. It is extremely important to write down what you are doing, what you want, where are you going, how are you going to get there, and how you will execute your plan.

Wayne Hartung says many people fail in business because they do not plan, but also because they do not have the courage to take that leap of faith. Business is a risky investment, but Wayne Hartung will strongly advise you to follow your passion. If your passion and drive are strong, Wayne Hartung says you are already on your way to success.

Businesses Represented by Wayne Hartung Before Congress

Wayne Hartung saw the potential for his company to grow when he was the Vice President of an automotive collision company. He joined the company at age 24, and in two years time, was the company’s Vice President. Under his leadership, the company expanded from five collision locations to 77. Wayne Hartung expanded the company from locations in Alabama to multiple states. By growing the company, Wayne Hartung took the collision company from a small business to a company of Fortune 500 status.

Wayne Hartung's insight:

In rough economic conditions, the struggles of small business owners are easy to recognize. When more and more For Sale signs pop up in locations where businesses used to be, it becomes harder to believe someone is sticking up for small business owners in government. Yet, when economic conditions are favorable, people praise their good fortune and feel as though their congressmen are working to represent their interests as small business owners.

Wayne Hartung knows there are economic fluctuations all the time. For over 20 years, he has been hard at work as a business professional growing the companies that either employ him or he owns. As Vice President of a collision company in his 20’s, Wayne Hartung grew a small business to the status of a Fortune 500 company.

“I went to school for business and as a leader, you need to have a vision and plan for the future while successfully navigating real and potential challenges to your business’ growth,” says Wayne Hartung. A strong business plan is not hard for Wayne Hartung to develop. Since 1998, he has been the President of two companies, each in a different industry.

Wayne Hartung knew he was a successful business owner but he only fully realized his reputation as an expert businessman when he was asked to be the small business delegate for small businesses for lower Alabama. “I was honored when Senator Tom Delay asked me to be a small business delegate. I was excited to represent other entrepreneurs like myself, but also a little intimidated about what I could accomplish before Congress,” admits Wayne Hartung.

Fortunately, Wayne Hartung is hard working professional who possesses lots of natural talent, people skills, and confidence. His abilities as a power public speaker helped him raise the needs and concerns of business owners before Congress.

“I knew small businesses would only get the help they needed if the senators knew the trouble faced by small businesses each day. I even worked with legislators to obtain grants for small and minority businesses,” says Wayne Hartung. Thanks to Wayne Hartung, small businesses from lower Alabama had someone to represent their needs before congress.

There are many small business owners and entrepreneurs across the United States. Not every entrepreneur manages to create a successful business on their first attempt, but there are some who are successful from the beginning and at a young age. Businessman Wayne Hartung was one of the young visionaries who built a decade’s long successful business before he was 20.

Wayne Hartung attended the University of Alabama where he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Two years after Wayne Hartung was hired, he became the company’s Vice President. “As Vice President, I was able to help develop business strategies and was recognized for the skills I possessed and continued to develop,” says Wayne Hartung.
