Artists, scientists, activists, teachers, youth are invited to upload videos, digital postcards, poems or texts on the theme of “HOT WATER”: climate change, environmental decline, rights violations, volatile politics and conflict about water.
Selected works will be part of a publication by Sousse University. Co-organised by Sousse University in Tunisia, Griffith University in Australia, Five Colleges in Massachusetts, Reciclarte & IQLab in Argentina
More than 50 participants scientists, artists and professionals from 5 continents will present & interact with people at Sousse University in Tunisia, and with Sci | Art Center at UCLA in LA. It will be introduced by Riccardo Petrella (author of 'The Water Manifesto') and Ulay (known for his performances with Marina Abramovic, photo/videographer, activist), joined later by Professor Jean-Paul Laborie (Fr) and Victoria Vesna (Co-Director of UCLA Nanosystems Centre, USA)

The symposium will promote exchange between all those who are, for various reasons, concerned with water issues, land management and hydraulic infrastructure, for a better sharing of knowledge and governance thanks to Waterwheel, an online platform dedicated to Water http://water-wheel.net/
Intrepid artists James Cunningham & Suzon Fuks travelled 7500 km through Queensland exploring creeks from tropical Cairns, through the mining towns and dusty trails of the vast outback collecting data and exploring physical & digital connections to our environment. The pair has returned to Brisbane to present an interactive art installation called FLUIDATA.

- activating the weather machine: by pedalling on the bicycle, they were making a tornado in a tea chest and a light rain falling into bowls which were producing a soundscape - performing, interacting, discussing on the Tap, one on one with performers in other countries - exchanging thoughts about recycling water, managing drought and flood, life style change which came out of water restrictions, water situations in different countries thought provoked by 1minute excerpts of media they selected from the Waterwheel Media Centre - making a wish for water, and later on, a silent pledge
People experience collaborative participation, individual thought, fun, entertainment, information, and a sharing of knowledge and experience. They can appreciate how each person can trigger a cycle – how individual actions, community practises, and ways of life are part of an integrated system, one affecting the others in negative or positive ways.
