Fluoride is a well-known neurotoxin which is routinely added to community based water treatment plants and  added to toothpaste. This is insane as the health of people and young children is at stake.

 

Now a new study from Harvard School of Public health and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai say that fluoridated water in addition to environmental toxins is contributing to a "silent epidemic" of autism and  Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ( ADHD) which mainstream media is ignoring.

 

The study says numerous chemicals are to blame, many of which have not been tested or just approved by the FDA, USDA, and CDC without knowing their long-term ramifications. (sound familiar?)

Aside from fluoride, your drinking water may contain harmful disinfection byproducts, chemicals, and even pharmaceutical drugs that can damage your health.

Most tap water is contaminated with chemicals, radiation, disinfection byproducts, heavy metals, and pharmaceutical drugs which causes harm to your overall health.

 

The documentary "An Inconvenient Tooth" reveals the many problems associated with water fluoridation and why it's key to stop this practice of adding fluoride to the nation's water systems.

 

Numerous studies, ongoing studies show that fluoride is a dangerous, toxic poison that is bioaccumulating in your body while being ineffective at preventing dental decay.

 

Traces of 18 unregulated contaminants have been found by federal scientists in a third of water samples tested that were collected from 25 municipal water utilities in the U.S including perfluorinated compounds.(PFCs). PFCs are being detected in humans, including children.

 

A panel of scientists have concluded that there is "a probable link" between PFOA, a common PFC, in drinking water and high cholesterol, thyroid disease, testicular cancer, kidney cancer, and pregnancy induced hypertension.

 

These findings were based on people in mid-Ohio based communities whose water was contaminated with PFOA from a Dupont plant.

 

Did you know that non-stick cookware is a common source of these harmful chemicals? And contaminated drinking water is another major source. PFCs like PFOA and PFOS have the ability to disrupt your endocrine system and affect your sex hormones in animal (ugh) studies.

 

And the addition of contaminated fluoride to the water supply may be contributing to increased cancer rates in the U.S. because of the arsenic it contains.

 

Dr Mercola and this curator strongly recommend adding a whole house or at least a water filtration system in your kitchen and bathroom. Environmental Working Group (EWG), a trusted resource for all things environmental released a report finding "probable human carcinogens" in all water samples from 201 municipal water systems from 43 states. Does this grab your attention or are you hiding under a rock believing that your water system is 100% safe?

 

EWG and many others want the government to clean up those sources of public drinking water, thereby reducing the need for chemical treatment. The report, "Water Treatment Contaminants: Toxic Trash in Drinking Water" was sparked by concerns about water contamination in the wake of SuperStorm Sandy (no relation to me) which spilled tens of millions of gallons of sewage into waterways along the East Coast.

 

The results of their analysis reveal a far more widespread and concerning problem that superstorms merely inflame.The problem is that chlorine and other water treatment chemicals, in addition to being toxic themselves, react with ordinary organic particles in the water (waste from farm animals, fallen leaves, dead animals) to create hundreds of extremely toxic byproducts, which aren't regulated or monitored at all.

 

These toxic byproducts have been labeled "Disinfection Byproducts" DBP's. 600 are known and hundreds more have yet to be identified. Most people are not even aware that DBP's exist, let alone that they are actually 1000 times more toxic than chlorine. Just like with "ionizing radiation" and mercury, any exposure at all is concerning and potentially toxic. There is no safe level.

 

Chlorine is the only disinfectant that has been extremely studied. Today many water treatment plants are also adding chloramine, another disinfectant of which being exposed to that the health effects are not known.

Chloramine is a combination of chlorine and ammonia. More than one in five Americans are drinking tap water treated with chloramine.

 

Chloramine stays in the water system longer than chlorine and is harder to remove. It can't be removed by boiling, distilling, or by standing uncovered. Its vapors can accumulate in indoor air and concentrate in an enclosed area, such as shower stall, kitchen, bathroom, or apartment.

 

Chloramines combine with organic matter in water supplies to create two very toxic substances: iodoacids and nitrosamines says David Sedlak of UC Berkley.

 

There are three main types of chlorination byproducts, known to produce dangerous health effects: Trihalomethanes (THMs) which are associated with bladder cancer, gestational and developmental problems; Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) which lead to central nervous system depression and drowsiness and can irritate your skin and mucous membranes; Haloacetic Acids which is a Class B2 probable human carcinogen associated with neurological problems, growth retardation, low birth weight, and sperm toxicity.

 

Both Dr Mercola and myself recommend filtering your tub and shower water and I recommend filtering your kitchen as well for these reasons:

 

Scientists suspect that THMs in your tap water may be responsible for thousands of cases of bladder cancer each year, base on mounting evidence from multiple studies. The risk to pregnant women and their unborn babies is very concerning.THMs are associated with numerous developmental and reproductive abnormalities, including stillbirth, miscarriage, low birth weight, and neural tube defects. The neural tube refers to the structure that develops into your baby's brain and spinal cord.

 

Just showering in this treated water, in which you have absorption through both your skin and lungs, may pose a significant health risk to you and to your unborn child, if you are pregnant. Numerous studies have shown that showering and bathing are important routes of exposure for THMs and may actually represent MORE of your total exposure than the water you drink.

 

Analysts have found that THMs levels in public water systems vary throughout the year, depending on factors such as farming cycles. The EPA regulates chemicals based on an annual average, which means that spikes in the disinfection byproducts may go unnoticed.

 

And the EPA regulated chemicals are just the tip of the iceberg. There are hundreds of other chemicals finding their way into your water supply. The EPA regulates only nine (9) pollutants generated by chlorine or chloramine treatment. These nine represent less than two (2%) of the more than 600 unwanted chemicals created by the interaction of water of water treatment disinfectants and pollutants in source water.

 

There are more than 116,000 human made chemicals now detected in public water systems according to William Marks, author of "Water Voices From Around the World". 

 

Then there's other chemicals you can't see or taste that is found in public water systems. Some of the most common contaminants: Pharmaceutical drugs, Atrazine - according to the documentry FLOW, this U.S. herbicide is banned in the EU. Atrazine is an endocrine disrupter and is linked to numerous reproductive problems, breast and prostate cancer, and impaired immune function. MTBE - a chemical added to fuel to raise octane numbers is a potential human carcinogen. Glyphosate (Roundup), Hexavalent Chromium (Chromium 6), known as the Erin Brockovich chemical and a probable carcinogen.

Your body and brain are mostly comprised of water. Water is the lifeblood for humans. Most people are dehydrated which causes health issues for your body. Without enough water in your circulatory system blood flow to vital organs and your brain can be depleted. Did you know this depletion causes fatigue?  Not drinking water throughout your day is a sure way to age yourself.

 

Drinking anything in your water, whether it be a lemon slice, coffee or tea is not the same as drinking plain filtered water. Within 5 minutes of drinking water by itself, the water begins its healing process.

 

Make sure you are drinking pure spring or filtered Multipure water, not tap water which contains chemicals like chlorine, pharmaceutical drugs, and other harmful toxins. And avoid bottled water which usually is just tap water in disguise. The plastic bottles end up in landfills and in our oceans causing untold damage to marine life.

Drinking water is essential for your body to function optimally. Increased water intake has been shown in many studies to decrease risk of many diseases and help other health conditions such as headaches, muscle aches, hangover, fatigue, constipation, and heartburn. And did you that drinking water will reduce fluid retention? Yes if you provide your body with ample amounts of water (filtered or pure preferred), it will not have to retain water in the tissues.

 

. It is true that when you drink water first thing in the morning, not coffee with water in it, but water by itself, you will begin to find your body's need for water. Drink about 4 ounces, wait a few minutes. Your mouth may feel dry. Drink another four ounces, and wait. You'll feel thirsty again. And repeat until you're no longer thirsty. Add up all the water you drank and you will know your body's metabolic need for water. This information did not come from this article, but rather from a nutritional biochemist.

Did you know that you can drink lots of water and still be dehydrated?  Yes, on a cellular level. Most people don't realize that just because they don't feel thirsty, that doesn't mean that their body isn't crying out for water. Water is the lifeblood of your brain and body and is necessary for bodily functions.  Be sure to take minerals which help to transport water into your cells.  If your're feeling fatigued in the mid afternoon, it's most likely your body is in need of more water.

 

What is referred as water is not ordinary tap water which is loaded with chemicals, pesticides, carcinogenic and pharmaceutical drugs. Drink either pure, filtered, or ionized water and drink throughout the day. However, it's best for your digestion, not to drink with your meals. Drink a glass of water before you eat which will help you to eat less food.

 

Eat foods that are high in water content such as cucumbers, watermelon, zucchini, citrus fruits, strawberries, green peppers, celery, radishes, cauliflower, spinach, broccoli, carrots, and cantaloupe.

Water is the lifeblood of our body as we cannot live without it. For many people, myself included (years ago, not now) water can be difficult to drink.

 

How I solved this issue was to put a slice of lemon in the water to jazz it up and it worked beautifully.

 

This article lists other jazzy ways to make drinking water more acceptable for more people's taste buds. Of course these ideas are universal even if most people haven't thought of them.

 

Putting cucumbers in the water gives a refreshing twist and since cucumbers are almost 90% water, the drinker gets an added benefit.

 

Adding different fruits as I did with the lemon. It's a no-brainer. You get to pick your fruit of choice.

 

Adding mint gives a refreshing flavor. And if you have a garden with spearmint or wintergreen, you can mix and match.

 

Fruit cubes is a different way to get your fruit and jazz up your water at the same time. As the fruit cube melts, the flavor of the fruit refreshes your water.

 

And adding ginger is a nice twist. Ginger is known for helping with digestive issues. You can add it to room temperature water or hot water.

 

One more caveat. The article mentions drinking cold water. Cold temperature water constricts our muscles. It is far better to drink room temperature water. Your body will thank you.

Are You Drinking Enough Water?

Most people don’t think they need to worry about dehydration. To them, dehydration is something that happens to travelers in the desert when they run out of water. Find out if you are suffering one of the symptoms of chronic dehydration.

Except for the photo of drinking water from a water bottle, this is a really important article for your great health.

 

Most people don't realize that thirst is not a reliable indication of the need for water. Research shows that our body can become significantly dehydrated BEFORE we feel thirsty. It's best to develop a health habit to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water/day.

 

In the morning is when your body has a real metabolic need for water and yet few people can actually feel this need. Most people reach for coffee, a beverage that sucks the water out of your cells.

 

Try this: when you wake up, sip about 4 ounces of water and you'll be surprised to see that in a few minutes (2 or 3) you'll notice that your mouth will be very dry. You have unmasked your need for water. Now have another 4 ounces and again in 2-3 minutes you'll be thirsty. Repeat until you are not longer thristy. Add up all the 4 ounces servings tht you drank and you will discover you body's true metabolic need for water.

 

Here are 13 symptoms and the reasons why a lack of fluid affects the issue.

 

1. Fatigue, energy loss

Dehydration of tissues causes enazyamatic activity to slow down.

 

2.Constipation

When chewed food enters the colon, it contains too much liquid to allow stools to form properly, and the wall of the colon reduces it. In chronic dehydration, the colon takes too much water to give to other parts of the body.


3. Digestive disorders

The secretion of digestive juices are less in chronic dehydration.


4. High and low blood pressure

The body’s blood volume is not enough to completely fill the entire set of arteries, veins, and capillaries.


5. Gastritis and stomach ulcers

To protect its mucous membranes from being destroyed by the acidic digestive fluid it produces, the stomach secretes a layer of mucus.


6. Respiratory troubles

The mucous membranes of the respiratory region are slightly moist to protect the respiratory tract from substances that might be present in inhaled air.


7. Acid-Alkaline Inbalance

Dehydration activates an enzymatic slowdown producing acidification.


8. Excess Weight and Obesity

Thirst is often confused with hunger. We may overeat because we crave foods rich in water.


9. Eczema

Your body needs enough moisture to sweat 20-24 ounces of water, which is the amount necessary to dilute toxins so they do not irritake the skin.


10. Cholesterol

When dehydration causes too much liquid to be removed from inside the cells, the body tries to stop this loss by producing more cholesterol.


11. Cystitis, Urinary Infections

If toxins contained in urine are insufficiently diluted, they attack the urinary mucus membranes.


12. Rheumatism

Dehydration abnormally increases the concentration of toxins in the blood and cellular fluids and the pains increase in proportion to the concentration of toxins.


13. Premature Aging

The body of a newborn child is composed of 80% liquid, but this percentage declines to no more than 70% in an adult and continues to decline with age.


Put a sign on your fridge to "drink more water" throughout the day. Remind yourself that the more water you drink, the better you will feel. Drink pure, filtered or ionized water, not tap water and not bottled water which is mostly tap water.

From the plastic production to our oceans, lakes, rivers in which so many of these bottles end up, this must see documentary tracks the path of the Bottled Water Industry and the communities which were the unwitting pawns in this game. This film captures the intersection of big business at its dirtiest and the public's right to water.

 

"Tapped" clearly shows the false claims made by the Bottled Water Industry touting so called benefits to its water. The film points out that 40% of bottled water is merely filtered municipal tap water. The Bottled Water Industry is unregulated whereas municipalities are held to strict testing by the EPA.

 

The first half of the film highlights the plight of a small town in Maine against Nestle, the Swiss Corporation with $2.5 Billion dollars in bottled water sales. Nestle has moved in and taken over the use of the city's groundwater. This water source is goverened differently than ponds, springs, rivers, etc. Essentially, whoever has the abilities to pump the most water, gets the most water. Nestle accesses the water for free, then bottles it ans sells it for a profit. This leaves the townspeople upset as there owm municipal supply water dwindles and must be transferred to another water well which results in service interruption, while Nestle just continues pumping out water for its bottles to sell for a profit. Water companies operate this way all over the country. Recently in Oregon in a smaller community this occurred and fortunately, the people spoke up, mobilized and our Governor told Nestle to go packing.

 

Are you aware that plastic bottles have a seal on the bottom with the letter PET? Plastic materials are made in petrochemical facilities. Crude liquid oil is a major contributor.

 

Corpus Christi, Texas was highlighted in the film as a community suffering from the effects of the petrochemical industry and the cancer causing compounds which this industry produces. People suffering from headaches, pain, cancer and then death. The groundwater, air, and soil are all contaminated by the petrochemicals.

 

Consider if you buy bottled water that comes in a plastic bottle that you are contributing to other peoples' pain, not to mention the millions of plastic bottles that are killing marine life in the oceans of our planet. In 2008 there was more plastic than plankton found in the oceans. Scientists say that if we eliminate the scourge of bottled water, this will eliminate one of the biggest threats to our environment and health.

 

And there's BPA - a toxin which leaches out of plastic bottles. Clinical tests have shown that in mice when exposed to BPA that every part of the male reproductive organs were damaged. Medical doctors say that BPA affects obesity, breast cancer, the brain, the liver, low spearm count. This is a $7 Billion dollar a year industry trying to convince the public that this chemical is safe. Are you willing to bet your health and your life on drinking water from plastic bottles?

 

The FDA was investigated by the Senate relating to BPA for failure to notify the public of the dangers of BPA and for following the testing done only by the Petrochemical companies when there are thousands of peer reviewed studies speaking on the harmful effects of BPA. The FDA's response - "we don't ask for Peer Reviewed Studies".

 

Botton line: Our water needs to be clean as does our air and our food. People it's time to take back what is rightfully yours/ours. And people all over the country are doing just this - mobilizing against big corporations, big money and fancy lawyers.

Excellent information which I always also impart to my peeps.

 

Just because your coffee, tea, soda (yikes) or food has water in it, that doesn't mean that you don't have to drink 8-10 glasses of pure filtered water a day. Because you do. The body sends out a thirst signal that it is already dehydrated. Many  times people assume that means hunger, when in fact it refers to dehydration.

 

Alcohol and caffeine containing beverages deplete fluids from your body.

The average person loses about 90 ounces of water a day.
