Did you know plastic water bottles have an expiration date like other food products?  In addition to the tap water in the bottle what you need to pay attention to is the plastic which overtime degrades and can leach chemicals into the water you’re drinking creating a double toxic cocktail.

 

Plastic water bottles besides harming you also harm marine life, beaches, coastlines, all water ways. There are no pristine areas anymore anywhere in the world.

 

Health tips:  Carry your own glass or stainless steel water bottle filled with filtered water with you when on the go. Take your own cutlery set and glass straw when you eat out for casual.

 

Carry your cloth shopping totes/bags when you grocery shop. In your cloth bag carry your glass jars or reusable containers for your bulk items or use small paper bags and reuse them.

 

Watch what you buy. As much as possible avoid single use non recyclable bags/containers. Buy your produce loose. You don’t have to put it in a plastic bag. Just wash it when you get home.

 

There’s less chance of food contamination this way and you don’t have to throw out or recycle another plastic container. Also avoid single use beverage cups and other single use plastic.

Did you know that the World Health Organization (WHO) states that there are three ways for chemicals to enter your body? They are inhalation, digestion, and absorption.

 

When you swim in a pool that uses chlorine, the possibilities exist for all three ways. Numerous studies are showing a link between chlorine intake and cancer, heart attacks, and other negative health effects.

 

Chlorine by-products produce dangerous free radicals in your body which trigger cell damage and are carcinogenic. Free radicals lead to inflammation which causes chronic diseases.

 

When you drink tap water with chlorine and other harmful chemicals such as chloramine, you are exposing your body to these free radicals. 

 

When you cook and bathe with chlorinated water, you are still exposing your body to the free radicals. Something you may not know , but is very critical for your health is that boiling tap water increases your exposure to chlorine by-products as does hot steam from your shower head.

 

Your skin and lungs are sensitive organs where absorption also enters your body.

Earlier this year, an American study in the journal Environmental Science and Technology Letters found the anti-diabetic drug metformin in almost all of the 59 investigated streams.

Did you know that your tap water could be harboring dangerous prescription medication residues? According to the article, “Environmental Science and Technology Letters, which analyzed the water from 59 small streams in the U.S. for the presence of 108 pharmaceuticals, found the anti-diabetic drug, metformin, in almost all of them”.

 

In addition to pharma drugs, there is also industrial pollutants such as fertilizers. “Iowa Environmental Council found in a review of prior research that consumption of drinking water containing higher levels of nitrates—nitrogen-based compounds often associated with fertilizer runoff—has been linked to a number of human health effects. Those include birth defects related to brain and spinal development as well as bladder and thyroid cancers”.

 

Fluoride and chlorine, chloramine and other toxic chemicals lurk in most municipal city water systems. Look what happened in Flint, Michigan and other cities across the U.S. Do your due diligence to find out what’s hiding in your city’s water/ Then take action because your health depends on it.

Water is the very best beverage you can drink for your health. Today there's scientific evidence suggesting that not drinking enough water maybe associated with health problems, according to Dr Michael Greger in his newest book, "How Not to Die".

 

Not drinking enough water each day may cause you to experience  some of these health issues: "falls and fractures, bladder and colon cancer, urinary tract infections, constipation, dry-eye disease, cavities, decreased immune function, and cataract formation". Dr Michael Greger.

 

Dr Greger says that low water intake is also associated with several unhealthy behaviors, including low veggie and fruit intake, more fast food consumption, and less shopping at Farmer's Markets. People who exercise a lot and eat more produce also drink more water and have less incidence of health problems. Makes perfect sense.

Make sure you get plenty of pure spring or filtered water everyday. Avoid liquid calories as in sodas, energy drinks, and store bought fruit smoothies. Proper hydration  is as important to good nutrition as is eating healthy food. If you find your fatigued mid afternoon, it could be your body is thirsty for water.

Fluoride is a well-known neurotoxin which is routinely added to community based water treatment plants and  added to toothpaste. This is insane as the health of people and young children is at stake.

 

Now a new study from Harvard School of Public health and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai say that fluoridated water in addition to environmental toxins is contributing to a "silent epidemic" of autism and  Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ( ADHD) which mainstream media is ignoring.

 

The study says numerous chemicals are to blame, many of which have not been tested or just approved by the FDA, USDA, and CDC without knowing their long-term ramifications. (sound familiar?)

Considering that for decades beverage companies such as Pepsi and Coke have hoodwinked you into thinking their sodas were healthy or could help you lose weight (NOT) why would you think their bottled water was any better? These companies have one main agenda which is to grow their bottom line.

 

Bottled water is a major business. Plastic water bottles are found in every place on earth either washed up by the ocean waters, rivers, lakes, streams or needlessly discarded by unthinking humans.

There’s pure spring water, filtered water, distilled water, alkaline water, well water, tap water, and bottled water. There are a number of companies that promote alkaline water and apparently now according to this article there is alkaline bottled water.

 

Any type of bottled water isn’t healthy because it’s in a plastic petrochemical container which leeches the chemical into the water, especially on hot days. Just as important is that the Pacific Ocean contains more plastic than fish.  Regular bottled water for the most part is just plain tap water which also isn’t healthy as it contains: 

 

  1. Carcinogenic Emerging Contaminants (Bisphenol A (BPA), DEET, Meprobamate, Trimethoprim etc).
  2. Heavy metals (mercury, lead, arsenic, asbestos, PCB, Radon, Turbidity, VOC etc).
  3. Pharmaceutical drug residues (Ibuprofen and Naproxen, etc.)
  4. Bacteria and viruses 
  5. Carcinogenic Contaminants (Chlorine, Chloramine, Chromium 6, Fluoride).

 

Alkaline water has been touted as beneficial for a variety of health reasons. Most people who have tried drinking this water felt better almost immediately mainly because they didn’t ever drink much water, their bodies were dehydrated, and they didn’t apparently understand that the human body thrives on water. The machines can be expensive for many people and as the article states if you add baking soda to your drinking water, then the water becomes alkaline.

Did you know that drinking filtered water first thing in the morning with lemon or without before eating or drinking any other beverage will help your brain and body to replenish itself after sleeping all night? Your brain is mostly water about 75-80 percent and needs its lifeblood. 

 

When you become dehydrated your brain shrinks. Dehydration can affect your cognitive performance and your mood. Not drinking enough filtered water throughout your can cause fatigue and sleepiness, brain fog, and confusion. 

 

Your body will tell you when its dehydrated. When you drink first thing in the morning after not hydrating yourself all night, your body is thirsty and the water remains longer in your body because it’s needed. Dr Michael Greger states in his book, “How Not to Die” that researchers used the above concept to develop a formal dehydration assessment tool. Do you want to drink more filtered water, but just can’t seem to drink water by itself? Relax there are many cool ways to drink your filtered water and get nutrition as well. Have you ever thought to add frozen fruits, lemons, limes, mint leaves, herbs, and even veggies to your filtered water? 


Eventually, you may decide that you really like drinking filtered water and then they’ll be no stopping you. Your body and brain are composed of 70-90% water, so you can see that you need water to live. It’s best to drink filtered water in the morning when you first wake up. Not coffee/tea, but filtered water. That’s what your body/brain require. When you drink coffee, you’re dehydrating your body and your skin, not a good idea. Anything that dehydrates your skin makes it look older and anything that dehydrates your brain, decreases your thinking and impairs your judgement. Drink coffee later in the day, if you must. Start drinking filtered water with a few sips, then notice how thirsty you really are and drink more filtered water. Drink by taking sips, not gulping water all at once, which doesn’t help your digestive system. Drink 1-4 eight ounce glasses in the morning. Drinking water before consuming food helps fill you up. Wait at least an hour before consuming your meal. Did you know it’s best not to drink with meals? Drink before you eat and drink several hours after you consume your meal. Your body and brain are mostly comprised of water. Water is the lifeblood for humans. Most people are dehydrated which causes health issues for your body. Without enough water in your circulatory system blood flow to vital organs and your brain can be depleted. Did you know this depletion causes fatigue?  Not drinking water throughout your day is a sure way to age yourself.

 

Drinking anything in your water, whether it be a lemon slice, coffee or tea is not the same as drinking plain filtered water. Within 5 minutes of drinking water by itself, the water begins its healing process.

 

Make sure you are drinking pure spring or filtered Multipure water, not tap water which contains chemicals like chlorine, pharmaceutical drugs, and other harmful toxins.
