Thanks to some help from Kohl's department stores, Washington Parent was able to help community members in need this holiday season. Through its "Pay it Forward" initiative, Kohl's gave us a $250 gift card that we were able to use to purchase items for homeless young people in Washington, D.C.

It is here that The Dinosaur Park preserves part of a geologic formation called the Muirkirk Deposit of sediments and clays that span from south of Washington, D.C., to north of Baltimore.

Kit Gage, founding member of the Watershed Stewards Academy and sustainable gardening consultant, says that through sustainable gardening,"families can fairly easily modify their yards and gardens to absorb rainwater better, and understand why this is important to do."
