The number of job openings is now at pre-recession levels. But the unemployment rate is still high. Historically, the unemployment rate would be follow the pattern of job vacancies and be at pre-recession levels as well. This is why talk of a “War For Talent” has begun again. 


This is a whole new economy we have here. The skills that are in demand are not the ones we have in supply.
