15 Top Wild Edibles That Can Save You in the Wild | Wandering Salsero | Scoop.it
You might be surrounded by a feast of edible plants, nuts, roots, and berries that can help keep you alive but there is just as much growing in the surrounding wilderness that can hurt or even kill you.
wanderingsalsero's insight:

You couldn't get more practical than a video about wild edible plants. This is something we've all heard about but hardly anybody, except these specialists, know anything about.

Check out the videos that come after each plant .... AND after that video plays, look at some of the related videos.

We offer Internationally accredited and recognized TEFL / TESOL courses online via self study at fantastic rates! Enrol and start today!

Via Ajarn Donald
wanderingsalsero's insight:

No doubt about it, ESL is a big business. However, it's amazing that more English language learners don't take a more affordable, incremental approach rather than making huge and expensive commitments like these TEFL/TESOL courses.

One such approach is for English language learners to pick up the free, online resource known as gFriend recently launched in Beta Release by Richard McCullough, the Company's CEO.

This carefully design course, based on Richard's several years of successful experience teaching English in China, utilizes multi-sensory learning to teach students 850 basic words and sentence structures to communicate successfully in English.

Experience has shown that students maintain their interest in learning English better when they have the incremental successes that gFriend offers them.

The course is totally free and many English teachers are integrating it into their present curriculum as not only a very usable tool but also as the top part of their sales funnel (i.e. for those who run their on online tutoring businesses online).

Current English teacher can get their replicatable copy here:

www.wanderingsalsero.gfriend.com

On the other hand, students who might want to give it a try can sign up for their own personal edition here (Note: students can actuall sign up in their own language...meaning that the course is actually taught in that language rather than English):

Another experiment in blogging: This post covers something I actually do believe, i.e. MLM is changing. It has too. And actually technology is the major force that's changing it.

Technology is changing MLM because it's educating people and it's giving people who formerly couldn't communicate with each other a new means of communication (gFriend).

And yes...I'd like YOU to get your own gFriend site. You'll thank me for it soon. Register here: www.wanderingsalsero.gfriend.com

Ask yourself, "Who do you know who wants to learn English?"

The answer is pretty much everyone outside of the US, right?

Secondly, I've found a company with an MLM marketing structure with a product that people really like and will buy at retail. More info on that soon.

China's market mayhem

China's market mayhem | Wandering Salsero | Scoop.it
Everything you need to know, in four paragraphs
wanderingsalsero's insight:

In my humble opion, China's government didn't fundamentally solved their economic problem by their recent stern actions. They just postponed them.

I think that Chinese are gradually realizing this too and as China has no option but to open up their borders for travel in and out and also for foreign investment, the people are, coincidentally, going to realize that the international language of business is English and they're going to associate it with the capitalism and success they (falsely) think everybody in the West enjoys.

Already there are more people in China learning English than there are people speaking it in the US... and that number is only going to become more lopsided as time goes by.

So....ESL will probably become an even hotter job in China. Of course, they don't pay as much there as in S.Korea, or even in Japan. But the cost of living in China is a lot less too and it's just as pretty a country so a few tours of teaching English in China would probably be a very memorable experience.

Meanwhile, for those Chinese and people in other language groups there's this incredible English learning tool called gFriend, recently launched. It really will teach basic English to anybody who takes advantage of its fun, and easy to follow multisensory learning approach...plus it's got some really cool social media features (e.g. a real-time, bilingual chat box).

wanderingsalsero's insight:

This is a 'work in progress' but here's a video on a YouTube channel that I've set up for my new online English coaching business.

This online learning tool/platform is going to be the leading edge of my marketing efforts because (1) it's a tremendous learning tool that new students can use to get going quickly in their English learning journey, and (2) it will help ensure that the paying students that come to me for higher level courses that I want to teach, i.e. Blogging in English, Internet Marketing in English, International Dating in English, Travel English, Email In English, and a few other subjects, will be ready and serious about it.

There will be changes (my) course....of course...but the important thing is to get started. I'll have my WP blog up in the near future too.

What I like about gfriend (www.wanderingsalsero.gfriend.com) is the plans for monetizing it. Exactly in what way it will be monetized is a corporate secret but I'm told (on good authority) that the income opportunity here will be realistically HUGE

Think about it: If you want to make money...you have to be in a market where there IS a lot of money, right?

Do you have any idea how much money is spent by individuals and companies on learning English? How many restaurants do you think there are in popular tourist cities around the world where the owner would like his/her employees to know basic English?

A BUNCH! And gFriend actually has a free section specifically for 'restaurant English'. It also has one for the 'construction business'. How cool is that?

Click the button that says, "Join Now-FREE" and get yours today.

I found this video after watching another video talking about the recent article in the New Yorker Magazine talking about an offshore earthquake predicted very soon (i.e. it's overdue bases on historical data). The article was mentioned in intellihub.com which I read frequently.

wanderingsalsero's insight:

I've always had good luck with the several HP laptops I've had. So, I was interested to read this review. It looks nice, literally, but it does sound like it would do everything I need to do.

My only object might be that I really hate to squint at a smaller screen. I've got a 15" now. And... I wonder if the keys might be marginally smaller on this 14" unit and that would be a factor with me because I'm writing constantly on my present HP.

This unit also doesn't have a CD/DVD player and, as I have several dance instruction DVD's that I want to be able to paly, that might omission might be a deal-preventer for me.

But I've read that playing DVD's and CDs on laptops is sorta going out of style now that memory is so cheap(i.e. the media can just be downloaded/uploaded).

Anyway....I like HP stuff. Their price guarantee is a nice safety net too.

One of the basic strategies ESL teachers abroad soon learn, unless they like doing things the hard way all the time, is where the best online teaching resources are (and how to use them).

wanderingsalsero's comment, June 29, 3:00 PM
I think one of the challenges for teachers finding effective tools is 'finding tools that resemble something the students already like to do'. And what are the kids doing now: It's social media. That's why I think this tool that I found a few days ago is so cool and I plan in integrating it into the website I'm setting up. I've got my domain and everything: http://wanderingsalsero.gfriend.com . I was introduced to the owner of the company by a fellow I used to do some writing for and I'll be talking to him tonight to get more information about their planned expansion of the modules on the site but, considering it's all free anyway, even what they've got right now is very valuable.

Organizacion INCA

Organizacion INCA | Wandering Salsero | Scoop.it
wanderingsalsero's insight:

This school employs at least one SCAMMER that I know of.

I met a certain Ronald Rodrizuez, an English teacher at the INCA school, about three months ago. Mr. Rodrizuez informed me that he was the "Foreign Teacher Coodinator" (or something like that) and that they needed another ESL teacher.

I informed Mr. Rodriguez that I wanted to teach but that I would also need a visa. So...he told me that he would need 450,000 pesos and he could arrange for his (or 'their') attorney to get the visa.

Long story short....I never saw that money again. Myself and a bilingual lady-friend of mine went out to the school and managed to find out who Mr. Rodriguez's supervisor was (a Mrs Alba. Londono). We told her the story. Ronald claimed that he couldn't remember he last name.

In our discussion with Mrs. Londono, she professed to be appalled t this news about Ronalds misrepresentations and stated specifically that if he did not pay me back (I showed her the receipt which I had) that the school would take it out of his pay and get it to me.

But I never heard from her again>

I did hear from Mr. Rodriguez. Actually I've heard from him several times since then and each time I do.... it's another excuse.... to the point where it's obvious that he's just a con-man.

It's not a lot of money but it is a shame that somebody has to stoop that low for a lousy $170. And to think that a guy like that is teaching kids in school...??! I don't think he's a very good roll model and can only suppose that he could easily have pulled other such stunts in the past and/or could in the future.

It also seems strange to me, knowing that Ronald admitted to his supervisor what he had done, that they obviously have not followed up with Mr. Rodriguez nor have they felt compelled to offer more assistance to me.

It's pretty clear that they really don't care... just as long as Mr. Rodriguez turns up and does his job and doesn't rock their boat with anybody with any real clout locally.

I just got off an online chat with somebody at the school and, by coincidence, this person was one of the English teachers and apparently Mrs.Londono was/is his supervisor too. I suppose she was standing right there while he was chatting online with me.

Her message to him, from Mrs. Londono, was that it was my problem. In a sense, that's true. But in another sense, it's also theirs. But...I'm just another out-of-town gringo, so....no big deal, right?

I'd like to think that the professional institutions around here would be more concerned with the ethics of the people who represent them. But apparently not at INCA.

I can't wait to renew my registration over at daveseslcafe.com and put this news there. There might come a day when some foreign teacher thinks about going to work at INCA but I hope they find out how INCA handles ethical problems first.
