wanderingsalsero's insight:

I really don't know as much about this style as I'd like to. What particularly interests me is the relation, if there is one, between this style (Morna) and Kizomba. They both come from Cape Verde (AKA: Cabo Verde).

I do know that the chord progression in Morna is very formulaic...generally. I know because I read it on Wikipedia. But I'm sure there exceptions.

Nevertheless, it's very beautiful. Like Fado... although I don't think Fado is rooted in Cabo Verde but rather in Portugal itself.

Fado, I believe, is more often sung in Portuguese but also sometimes (like Kizomba) it's sung in Creole too.

Whatever........there're all three (Kizomba, Fado, and Morna) extremely unique and beautiful. Once you've heard all three you can never mistake one for the other.

wanderingsalsero's insight:

I'm not totally sure what to call this style. I know it's sorta like Kizomba but I think it's 'up' the style heirarch from that. Is it 'Lusophile' (Portuguese/African?). But it's like a smell or a color that you can't name...but you just know what it smells or looks 'like'. I really love this feeling.

A Joke About A Boss

Here's a joke I got from my friend Sam Smith who runs www.ilovelatins.com

wanderingsalsero's insight:

This is Priceless!!

If you've ever worked for a boss who reacts before getting the facts and thinking things through, you will love this.

Arcelor-Mittal Steel, feeling it was time for a shakeup, hired a new CEO.  The new boss was determined to rid the company of all slackers.

On a tour of the facilities, the CEO noticed a guy leaning against a wall.  The room was full of workers and he wanted to let them know that he meant business.  He asked the guy, "How much money do you make a week?"  A little surprised, the young man looked at him and said, "I make $400 a week. Why?" The CEO said, "Wait right here."

He walked back to his office, came back in two minutes, and handed the guy $1,600 in cash and said, "Here's four weeks' pay. Now GET OUT and don't come back!!"

Feeling pretty good about himself the CEO looked around the room and asked, "Does anyone want to tell me what that goof-ball did here?"

From across the room a voice said, "Pizza delivery guy from Domino's."

Christian witness to Muslims surges after ISIS executions

Christian witness to Muslims surges after ISIS executions | Wandering Salsero | Scoop.it
A Free Press For A Free People Since 1997
wanderingsalsero's insight:

You know what this makes me think of? It makes me think of that portion in the Bible in the Book of David where it has that somewhat confusing part about the King of the North and the King of the South and them going back and forth...i.e.hard to tell who the good guys are.

In this video we see that Egypt and ISIS aren't exactly the best of friends. That hypothetically fits in with the hypothesis some have that the Antichrist could be a Muslim....i.e. somebody who would be able to make peace with antagonistic Muslim factions.

Also to factor in, it wouldn't do any good to have a strong Muslim leader unless you that leader also had the semblance of a strong military arm...which is exactly what you see developing in the Middle East now lead by the Saudis.

Of course 'the world' would tolerate a strong Muslim leader because, at that point in the story, they'd just want ANYBODY who could put a stop to all the crap going on.

wanderingsalsero's insight:

Although I still haven't figured out the graphic display intricacies of Tumblr, I do think I see one of it's uses:

It looks like it would be really good for practising 'making good headlines' and also writing 'teaser' intro's that get people to clink on the original article.

There have been a few WSO's that have talked about using Tumblr for marketing. I think I bought one but didn't get much out of it. I still don't see where Tumblr is very good for editorializing.

Americans ‘prefer Christians for their rulers’

Americans ‘prefer Christians for their rulers’ | Wandering Salsero | Scoop.it
A Free Press For A Free People Since 1997
wanderingsalsero's insight:

Wow! This article is an excellent read. It'll take about 15 minutes but it's entirely worth it...not only because of the extracts it has from somebody who obviously was a towering pillar among our country's forefathers also because (truth be known) the article itself is well written.

Probably no non-Christians are aware of the influence that Christianity had on our founding fathers and the birth and growth of our once-great country. Probably even most Christians, if they don't have any interest in history, don't know how important the hand and word of God was in the birth of our country.

I find it very interesting. Anybody who reads this article will learn a LOT. It's full of jewels that will help put a lot of what's happening today into proper perspective.

hegemony - Dictionary Definition

Hegemony is political or cultural dominance or authority over others. The hegemony of the popular kids over the other students means that they determine what is and is not cool.
wanderingsalsero's insight:

I actually do enjoy learning the meaning of new words but isn't it curious how 'we' can see a word again and again, sometimes for years on end, without know precisely what it means?

For me, one such word has been 'hegemony'. I always knew it had something to do with politics and geopolitics but still I didn't know precisely what it means.

I looked it up tonight and now I DO know what it means. Read this and you will too. I saw the word tonight in an Infowars.com article that I'm also going to curate (about Russia's Putin).

wanderingsalsero's insight:

How curious that I just not five minutes ago got finished posting and mentioned the Book of Daniel and the conflict between the King of the North and the King of the South. Here their hypothetical identities (or at least regions) become even clearer when one understands Turkish aspirations and enmity against Saudi Arabia.

I never thought about it but it might very well be that Saudi Arabia is a creation of global bankers bent on controlling what was, at that time, the world's primary source of oil.

Josh Duggar in child-molestation scandal

Josh Duggar in child-molestation scandal | Wandering Salsero | Scoop.it
A Free Press For A Free People Since 1997
wanderingsalsero's insight:

I don't know this guy nor do I watch his program of TV at all. But apparently he's a Christian so...I've got an opinion on this matter:

First of all, anti-Christina gloaters will do what they do...celebrate evil. They won't have any remorse that something bad was done. They'll be celebrating that somebody they hate, associated with a concept they hate (i.e. Christianity) has stumbled.

Secondly, Christians aren't supposed to be perfect. They're just supposed to be 'saved'.... and getting better all the time. Which is something that non-Christians can't say.

It sounds to me like Josh 'did the right thing' and one of the things that I've realized as I move along the Christian path is that we all need forgiveness at various times in our lives. Considering how much sin there is in society today, that goes ignored and for which nobody feels any remorse about...I think what Josh has done, in resigning, is laudable.

kizomba | Tumblr | Wandering Salsero | Scoop.it
Post anything (from anywhere!), customize everything, and find and follow what you love. Create your own Tumblr blog today.
wanderingsalsero's insight:

Take a look at this summary page from a search I did on Tumblr.com. What does it tell you?

It tells me that there's a LOT of Kizomba related content on Tumblr.com. I've had a Tumblr account for many, many years. I was always torn between using Posterous.com and Tumblr.com and for various reasons, I chose Posterous.

In retrospect maybe that wasn't a good idea because Yahoo bought Posterous and then shut them down. For some reason which eludes me now, I neglected to scrape my MANY, many posts off of Posterous so, as a result, it was like being digitally lobotomized, i.e. I lost all that content.

But Tumblr is still around and by all appearances they're still doing well. I always thought Tumblr was as oriented toward writing as it was towards pictures, but.....obviously they didn't design their platform around my wants.

One good thing about Tumblr is that they do have a bookmarklet that makes it easy to curate...but I don't think they have the FB and other social media platform that scoop.it does. I no longer use RebelMouse.com because they've gotten too complicated.

I miss Posterous but I might start paying more attention to Tumblr.
