50 Resources to Use Animation as a Teaching Tool

50 Resources to Use Animation as a Teaching Tool | Walnut_L.A. | Scoop.it

Alfredo Corell's curator insight, January 20, 9:21 AM

Some of the animation links catalogued here will give educators very basic tools and histories of animation while others have the animation already created and set in motion, it’s just a matter of sharing it with students.

Educators need to decide which tool is best for them. If you want to create your own animation from scratch, then you want to go to sites such as Animwork. If you want to select from animation that’s already set up for you then perhaps Explainia makes more sense.

Judith Morais's curator insight, April 4, 2013 10:34 PM

There are some lovely poems and useful exercises to use with elementary students as they learn to experiment with poetry. Prelutsky's poem "Louder than a clap of thunder" is a lovely image evoking poem and I would get my students to create their own sound poem using this as stimulus.

Steven Blomdale's curator insight, March 6, 2013 4:35 PM

In schools across Australia there is strong support for linking learning in Technologies with learning literacy skills. Learning in Technologies places a high priority on accurate and unambiguous communication (ACARA, 2013).Implementing digital technologies in learning areas such as English allows special education teachers to facilitate and accommodate the learning needs of students. This is achieved through integrating assistive devices such as the iPad and its applications to develop critical literacy skills needed in the 21st century.  Consequently special education teacher have a better opportunity to develop important General capabilities such as literacy (LIT) to allows student to become literate as they develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions to interpret and use language confidently for learning and communicating in and out of school and for participating effectively in society (ACARA, 2013).

This website suggests various applications that can be used on the ipad to assist special needs students. The list of  applications were selected to improve and develop students reading, writing and spelling. They engage the students through making the activities, fun and engaging, which I think is important when teaching special needs students.

Patricia Christian's curator insight, March 22, 5:53 PM

You can never have enough resources to pull from when working with mainstream or challenged students.

Mary Perfitt-Nelson's curator insight, January 25, 2013 3:51 PM

"Each of these eleven tools are considered essential elements one needs to master a subject. For example, chemists need to understand the language of a chemist, the different points of view of in chemistry, the rules that govern chemistry, the ethical decisions chemists face, etc. Likewise, a master of chess would be an expert in the language of chess, the patterns of chess games, the rules to follow, and the way the game has changed over time.

When students think using these tools, they learn to approach subjects from the point of view of an expert."

I suspect these concepts will work with all students......thoughts?

Katie Frank's curator insight, January 28, 2013 11:18 AM
