Barack Obama's Advertising in Games and The Office Games

Barack Obama has reached out to gamers by adverstising inside games. Watch how it can make a difference.
Sutharsan Ab's insight:

A new way of campaign ? Barack Obama knows the power of advertising through games.. As soon as I saw this, My question was who are you targeting ? Google gave me the answer.

The average gamer is 30 years old and has been playing for 13 years. Sixty-eight percent of gamers are 18 or older.Forty-five percent of all players are women. Today, adult women represent a greater portion of the game-playing population (31 percent) than boys age 17 or younger (19 percent).Sixty-two percent of gamers play games with others, either in-person or online. Seventy-seven percent of these gamers play with others at least one hour per week.Thirty-two percent of gamers play social games.Gamers play on-the-go: 36 percent play games on their smartphone, and 25 percent play on their wireless device.

Smart move on Obama's part - targeting the younger generation who it appears (amongst my American friends anyway) are moving away from the republicans and becoming more aligned with democrats. I feel advertising in games fits Obama more so than the older republican candidates, so for me Obama's advertising in games works.

I think it's pretty smart with online gaming, they can change the ads accordingly.

Sutharsan Ab's insight:

I being a football fan, followed all live updates through this Carlsberg app. The opportunity  that carlsdberg ceased to meet millions of football fans in thier own devices is something great. A perfect example of brand entertainment. isn't it ?

Yeah! this is the best possible way to catch the target viewer, as it will be installed by those who are die hard fans like you. I think creating such application for a brand promotion or awareness is something like talking to the target audience face to face.

Yep! A perfect fit between both brands' target market. Kinda like Powerade and All Blacks!

Really true. At the end of this commercial I felt the same.. Somewhere something is missing.. sometimes u have to ensure that the brand is knit with the story !
Adriana Gomes's comment, August 21, 2013 7:51 AM
Yeah! It is a cool narrative, but it is one of those cool ads that in a few months, we will remember the story, but we won't be able to recall the brand. It reminded me of the cat ad for Toyota, but in this one, the story is very connected to the product itself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZfkSAQWz9E
