8 ideas for the future of cities

8 ideas for the future of cities | Walkerteach Geo | Scoop.it
In 2012, the TED Prize was awarded to an idea: The City2.0, a place to celebrate actions taken by citizens around the world to make their cities more livable, beautiful and sustainable. This week, The City2.0 website evolves.
Luke Walker's insight:

Ever wonder how you can save the world? It's really simple, change the cities we live in.

With over 50% of the human population (that's about 3.5 billion people) cities have an ENORMOUS impact on the entire world.

The choices made by city inhabitants affect the world over. So how can we reshape cities and life in cities to benefit the world and ultimately save it from our unsustainable practices?

Ismail-Yk Facebook-2010

Ever wonder what a Turkish love song sounds like? Ever wonder what a Turkish love song about finding love on Facebook sounds like? Well WONDER NO MORE!

This is a great music video. I find it relates pretty well to notions of technology, communication and a globalized culture of social media:

Be sure to stick around for the ridiculous end of the world dance routine.

Here are the lyrics very roughly translated. I must admit I'm only a novice with my Turkish so I had to employ google translate for the rest.

I went to the internet cafe
I went to Facebook
I gave my name as a crazy
Now I've been a member (im im)
I met with one of the beautiful
Writing in day to day
Ointment is günlüme
Now I've been loving
But I love the price
Her eyes were very beautiful
It's a pretty hard to find
Everyone asks where did you get
I've been looking every day on facebook Facebook
From there I found this girl on facebook Facebook
As soon as hired facebook Facebook
I think I'm in love with Facebook Facebook
locomotive Gülşen
Citi Piti birsen
Oh, I promise you
Gimcrack marbling
Brown banu
Tanışabilsen
Beauties beautiful like this
what you want
According to everyone's tastes on Facebook
handsome erkan
charismatic serkan
Souls burning, sympathetic ercan
Crazy Ayhan, face, fan
Whether friend, whether you're new love
I've already found my love on facebook
I've been looking every day on facebook Facebook
From there I found this girl on facebook Facebook
As soon as hired facebook Facebook
I think I'm in love with Facebook Facebook
