Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster

Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster | Walkerteach Geo | Scoop.it

With millions of devout worshippers, the Church of the FSM is widely considered a legitimate religion, even by its opponents – mostly fundamentalist Christians, who have accepted that our God has larger balls than theirs.

An interesting question, based on how we define religion can the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster be considered an actual religion?

The church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is believed to be made solely to annoy the Christians about their theory on creationism of the universe. Some of their customs and 'rules' are very far fetched and believed to be fake to further annoy the christians e.g. they believe that pirates were peaceful explorers. The FSM believers are under the impression that the FSM is real and created the universe. the religion of the FSM has been under scrutiny since the day it was announced.

This video is a good example of folk culture, because in folk culture, we see a culture of tradition, which beliefs and behavior as pasted on from generation to generation. For example; we see the girls cleaning, cooking, doing the house work, and the boys are working in the field etc. also we see in the video a very small community. They relative live isolation from other groups; in one part of the video the narrator said something like. “they don’t bother us and we don’t bother them” a good example of how folk culture work.
