TechCrunch | FarFaria Brings A Hulu For Kids’ Stories To The iPad | Wahooly & Startups | Scoop.it

"Grumpy Cat! Grumpy Cat! More Grumpy Cat, please!" - That's basically my two-year-old's review of FarFaria, a new subscription-based children's storybook app for the iPad.

^EO^ Doesn't seem to matter what age group or really what the game is about, the fact that it is a game, will sell.  I'm not a gamer and don't pretend to know the market, but I do see so many people on the internet playing games. And I get game requests all the time on Facebook and Google ( who knew?).  I don't play games on a comptuer, I consider computer work, and work is work and play is play.  Right now the sun is out the air is that wonderful mix of winter and spring in the air, two neighbors have mowed their lawn.. you know what that means don't you? it means my lawn is the worst lookin on the corner.. I hate that. I'll have to go find some young kid, tear  him away from his video game to come mow my lawn <G>

How enterprises can tackle the bring-your-own-tablet challenge

How enterprises can tackle the bring-your-own-tablet challenge | Wahooly & Startups | Scoop.it

Until recently, talk about BYOD (bring-your-own-device) policies has centered on managing the juggernaut of employee smartphones in the workplace.

^EO^ Almost passed this article by.  Then I started reading more and more and fourn it was getting more interesting by the minute.  Tec Companies are very suspicious by nature, they have to be. Now, people are bringing in their own tablets and wanting to access work areas. What do you do?  This artcle pretty much lines out a good policy and steps you can take in your own company..

Why a remote workforce is bad for startups

Why a remote workforce is bad for startups | Wahooly & Startups | Scoop.it

It seems like every company, every article, and every startup CEO today proclaims that the workforce is changing, and the need to be in the same physical space no longer exists. Sure, we'd all like to think it is.

I work exclusively remotely as does dmitri most of the time.  We have teams, friends in other parts of the world, you want best, I don't care where they live as long as they can follow directions, write beautiful code and most importantly get it tested and done are the proper time. and by the proper time I don't mean 2 minutes before the due date.  Code should be turned in at least 48 hours before it's due. Invariably someone is going to find an error that you missed, it's not that the job was done poorly, it's just what having a good team is all about, checking each others back.  Now this article says that if you are a startup, you should not have a remote work-force.

Should you have a remote work force on a startup? Should you not have a remote workforce on a startup?  Honestly I think that would depend on the level of person you're working with.  Mature experineced coders vs. those just out of school, or  persons not familiar with working in a team evironment.  Teams can be great, but sometimes the dymaics of the team are not always what you would like them to be, so remember your team building exercises.  Rembember to show/tell them they are appreciated. And mostly be sure to tell them to get off  their ass and get their job done on time. :)

^EO^ Always a shame when this happens. What makes an area great is the people in it. Then the area becomes great and others start moving in and pretty soon the struggler's, the activist, the free thinkers that made the area to atractive can't afford the area any more.  We've seen this in a number of areas where I live, one that comes to mind is Bellinghams Fairhaven District.  Wonderful area, full of artists and muscisians of course, they can't afford the area any more, so they just come down on a few different days with the farmers market.
