VoLTE Promises to Significantly Lower Voice Infrastructure Costs

VoLTE Promises to Significantly Lower Voice Infrastructure Costs | VoLTE & RCS | Scoop.it

[Scooper comments] Some are skeptic that opetators will move from LTE only to VoLTE. To my view, as operators have made their move and invested in launching LTE their route to VoLTE is mandatory. This link provides some of the reasons, I would list the following adding a few points to what this article reviews:

- Cost of operations is reduced when moving voice to VoLTE. This is highlighted in this article and also in an ARCchart report http://www.arcchart.com/reports/voice-over-lte-volte-report.asp?ref=rethinknl (unfortunately this is a paid research)

- The launch of LTE networks improve the bandwidth allowing OTTs to launch new services and provide better quality of service to their users

- VoLTE, being an all IP solution allows for new applications and services to be launched and integrated with it in addition to those defined in IR.92 & 94: Voice, SMS over IMS and Video call

- Battery life is improved as the need for keeping a dual modem connection for Circuit Switched and LTE is eliminated, this is mainly an advantage for CDMA networks.

Main features of RCS are:
