Social media use may flag up likely dropouts

Social media use may flag up likely dropouts | Vloasis vlogging | Scoop.it
Lack of online interaction could signal need for support, research suggests
Vloasis's insight:

I kind of have a problem with this study, although to be fair I'm not a member of the site that lets you access the full study. So essentially, I guess I find the study's conclusions a little troubling. Using social media as a gauge for academic success...well, that's a bit off-kilter.  I agree that social people will tend to remain social, to varying degrees of superficiality, but their wide online involvement in social networks doesn't necessarily translate into things like good grades or job success.  Staying in school is a tentative meter at best, and enjoying a peer group should continue to retain little academic relevance.

Imagination, reality flow in opposite directions in the brain

Imagination, reality flow in opposite directions in the brain | Vloasis vlogging | Scoop.it

As real as that daydream may seem, its path through your brain runs opposite reality. Aiming to discern discrete neural circuits, researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have tracked electrical activity in the brains of people who alternately imagined scenes or watched videos.
