Crowdfunding is on the rise, and Kickstarter is leading the pack. Not only is the trend increasing but, it I’ve noticed that the word “kickstart” has replaced some of the actual terms used when referring to other areas of crowdfunding.

Kickstarter Stats:

  • over 5 million daily visitors
  • 3700 ongoing projects funded
  • $18 Million of funding
  • Multiple projects cross the $1 million threshold
  • Film and Video, Games, Music, and Technology are the largest Categories

In my latest book on business credit it discusses the value of crowd-funding and Indigogo as they will fund anything unlike Kickstarter that specializes in Media oriented endeavors.
Martin (Marty) Smith's comment, September 23, 2013 10:21 AM
Good insight from Iron Dane Richards. Easier to create a sure takeaway from Indigogo too since they will let campaigns increase the house take and walk away with something where Kickstarter is all or nothing. Either the campaign meets its goals or it gets nothing. 42% of the campaigns on Kickstarter meet their goals and most campaigns are funded at $10,000 or below.

Nonprofits are also looking to crowdfunding -- but it has a dark underbelly as well.

Social Media Top 10: Retailers [Infographic] | visualizing social media | Scoop.it

175 million. On average, that's how many tweets were sent daily in 2012. The total number of tweets sent since the site launched just seven years ago is in the hundreds of billions.

Twitter, of course, is one of many social networking sites that retailers have worked to leverage. Facebook has also been a behavior-changer for many, and companies are still developing their best practices for how best to use these networks to communicate with their customers.

Many retailers are using social media with successful results, as illustrated in this infographic. It's interesting how different types of retailers are using different networks based on their business and audience - for instance, the craft retailer Michael's taking advantage of the visual nature of its product selection on the visually driven Pinterest.

Why Brands Must Embrace Visual Social Media in 2013 [infographics] | visualizing social media | Scoop.it

Two infographics provide data and tips to explain why brands must leverage visual social media in 2013 to stay relevant and grow.

Today, the marketing world is still hot on the social media marketing trail, but the trail has diverged. There are different paths with cheerleaders along the way no matter which path a marketer follows.

Ideally, marketers should find the path down the middle that marries all of the elements of social media marketing, but most are not there yet. Many of today’s marketers are still choosing a single path to focus on or jumping back and forth.

For example, those paths include the data and metrics focus, the storytelling focus, the visual focus, and more. This article hones in on the visual focus with the help of two great infographics that visually share the data and tell the story of visual storytelling...

What The Social Media Ecosystem Looks Like Right Now [Infographics]

What The Social Media Ecosystem Looks Like Right Now [Infographics] | visualizing social media | Scoop.it

The social media landscape is anything but constant — it seems like the ecosystem is changing daily...
This infographic shows what the social media landscape looks like right now. Unlike the famously viral LUMAscape depiction that crowds every single social media company into one infographic, this is a simpler visual of how things work "from customer service and R&D to HR and marketing."

The key question that brands have when planning and then analyzing social media campaigns is how to measure the impact that every dollar spent on paid social media has on the value their owned and earned social media.

An additional infographic analyzes the interaction of these three forms of social media, explaining:

"The high level analysis for media effectiveness takes all of earned and owned divided by paid. Earned is all the impressions generated divided by average CPM, owned includes all channels, and paid is the overall media spend. The higher the ratio, the more earned amplification is generated from paid."

8 Informative SEO Infographics

8 Informative SEO Infographics | visualizing social media | Scoop.it
Getting SEO right is, in my opinion, a quite challenging task. SEO isn’t an exact science and many consider it art to get top keyword rankings. The amount of content talking about SEO is overwhelming and for untrained people it it’s often difficult to find the best way through the SEO jungle. This is where SEO infographics serves a purpose other than just looking good. If you use WordPress as your platform combined with a modern SEO friendly WordPress theme it will also be good for your SEO.

Google change their algorithms daily and it is critical to stay up-to-date about what strategies to use. A lot of SEO material is outdated or even wrong. Be careful about what you are implementing and make sure it is always natural, value based and aligned with Google guidelines. This also means that even awesome looking SEO infographics may teach wrong techniques. In worst case this can harm your rankings and website traffic.

Visualising Facebook: Your social data and personal infographics

Visualising Facebook: Your social data and personal infographics | visualizing social media | Scoop.it
The more we share online the more we leave a trail of personal data in our tracks. We can now start to explore this, for Facebook at least.

This may be data about what we say to whom on Twitter, when we are most active or the photos we take. Or it may be data that we have captured from a specific activity – data on every run I have done in the last two years is stored by Runkeeper, for example. To have such a constantly growing, structured personal data set is very new and it offers real opportunities for brands and platforms. But also for individuals themselves.

The quantity and depth of data that we are structuring about our lives even on one network comes as a surprise to many people. Taking Facebook as an example – the data we create about ourselves and our networks is vast, and often hidden from the consumer – you just can’t imagine what it might be. The first step to help you understand the amount of data you have stored and how it might be useful is to visualise it – and search engine Wolfram Alpha have now produced a report that takes this information and presents it back to you...

Email has the potential to deliver a strong ROI for marketers, though the precise response rates depend on a number of factors including the subject line, type of offers and the time of day the email is sent.

The best way of accurately finding the optimal time of day to send your emails is to run tests, taking into account fluctuations around pay day and annual events such as Christmas and bank holidays.

According to the Econsultancy/Adestra Email Marketing Industry Census 2013 only half of businesses (49%) are currently testing the time and day of their email messages, so either the other 51% already know the optimum time or they're working off a hunch.

Infographics- An easier way to get backlinks to your site | visualizing social media | Scoop.it

Infographics are trending on the internet. There are used as a backlink bait by many of the popular brands. It serves as a dual advantage as it benefits both the creater and the user. The creator of the infographics is benefitted by getting a backlink to its website and the user of the infographic has an advantage of displaying visual friendly content on the site.

What are Infographics?

Infographics is short form for "Information Graphics". These are image visualization of data or information. It draws inspiration from Pictographs which are used as a picture language. Human mind accepts visual data more accurately and clearly than the raw text data. This concept relies heavily upon the creation of images which are used to convey complex data, graphs, information etc in an easier way before the audience.

Infographics are really useful in getting good backlinks to your website. The best way is to publish an infographic with a code to allow further embedding (The embed code contains the source of the image which is your website). People who visit your website would be able to see the embed link and if they like our picture, they would surely use it on their own website thus providing you a backlink. Moreover, you can even distribute your infographic to hundreds of specialized infographic directories thus increasing your chances of getting backlinks...
