Solibri, Inc. develops and markets Quality Assurance solutions for AECO field that improve the quality of Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Jed Fisher's insight:

Nemetschek says that it has concluded its acquisition of all of the shares of Solibri. You may remember from December that Solibri makes software used in BIM model quality assurance and quality control.

My take - very smart move by Nemetschek. Solibri has some excellent software and is often seen as the standard for IFC and model checking in the AEC industry.

Viewpoint Construction Software Acquires Project and BIM (Building Information Modeling) Collaboration Software Provider, 4Projects and Offers the Owner Market Collaboration Tools for the Entire Project Team.Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) February 06,...
Jed Fisher's insight:

Another predicitons has come true (I'm getting good at these, even if i do say so myself!). 4Projects has been acquired by Viewpoint Construction Software.

Great move by both companies IMHO.

4Projects have been building their SaaS based BIM platform with it's relational server database for sometime (since 2000). They seem to have gotten quite far with it; now their team of 61 employees will join the large Viewpoint team and their software will likely gain a strong channel being opened up to Viewpoints install base of over 40,000 unique monthly users.

Nemetschek Acquires Bluebeam Software

Nemetschek Acquires Bluebeam Software | 4D Pipeline - trends & breaking news in Visualization, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, 3D, Mobile, and CAD. | Scoop.it

Nemetschek® AG announced it is acquiring Bluebeam® Software, Inc., the leading developer of PDF-based collaboration solutions for the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry, for a $100 million purchase price.

Jed Fisher's insight:

Nice move by Nemetschek. I've only met some of Bluebeam team a couple of times but was really impressed with their traction (from memory they've more than half a million customers/users of their PDF markup software). Probably a match for both companies.

I'm guess most of Bluebeam's customers are in the US - which helps the Nemetschek family expand here, and vice versa, Nemetschek helps Bluebeam reach Europe.

The AEC software space - never a dull day!

Autodesk continues its investment in Reality Capture; other recent acquisitions include Alice Labs and RealViz. Autodesk defines Reality Capture as the practice of creating digital models of physical objects and spaces using photography, laser scanning, and other technologies.

Allpoint brings several significant pieces of the puzzle to Autodesk, including large-scale 3D scan data registration, an area of significant research focus but little commercial application.

Jed Fisher's insight:

Virtual and reality keep getting closer
